Partnerships

Makerere University, Uganda

The Department of Community Practice has developed partnerships with several organizations outside of Uganda.  These include:

CIDA  /  Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada
- description:  CIDA is the Canadian International Development Agency
- partnership:  Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada formed a partnership with the Faculty of Medicine at Makerere University, and helped by a CIDA grant, started the Department of Community Practice in 1989.

Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO), UK
- description:  VSO is a UK-based NGO
- partnership:  has sponsored family physicians from the UK to come to Makerere as Visiting Lecturer, or as Lecturer in the Department of Community Practice.  These physicians have stayed between 1 and 2 years at Makerere University.

Global Health through Education, Training, & Service (GHETS):
- description:  GHETS is a US-based NGO
- partnership:  in 2003 - 2004, GHETS sponsored a family physicians from the US to come to Makerere as a Visiting Lecturer for four months.
