THE FUTURE OF MOBILES

In the publicity stunt challenge for the launch of Third Generation Mobiles, Nokia seems to have hit the target: the phone of the future is designed for "human being mobile".
And as such, it will have a style of its own, becoming a very personal device. In short it will be either a life management tool for work or a lifestyle accessory for leisure.
So, while exchanging personal information and experiences it will allow people to express their individuality.
As Third Generation approaches, new possibilities for communication, entertainment and management infuse the mobile phone with rich new meaning and, regardless of whether we find new technologies intimidating or fascinating and although the technology behind Third G. may seem complicated, Third G. will affect our lives.
As business tool the phone of the future will provide immediate access to information formats and services that were previously inaccessible; while as lifestyle accessory for leisure it will be a device for sharing experiences through rich communication, easy to use, exciting, fun and "personalizable".
"Diversification" comes to be the password for the future.
And if now we change the folder following our mood or the colour of our clothes, in the next future we will have our mobile tailored on our needs.
Mobiles specifically designed for leisure will be then studied to receive and download from the Net new games with always new adventures, will be provided with a joystick navigation and a colour display as well as a shell protecting against splashes, dust or bumps.
Mobiles designed for the exchange of images and experiences won't miss an integrated digital camera for picture taking and sending, or a photo-album for storing pictures to share the fun with our friends.
Mobiles for communication will allow videoconferencing in a taxi or sending images straight from the field to headquarters for analysis, writing texts as well as multimedia messaging or immediate access to company's data: the ideal tool for managers.
The Media Phones instead will change to the paradigm of the Internet by offering anytime, anywhere access to Internet Services and will focus on highly complicated terminals capable of supporting Mobile Internet, new applications and multimode radio.
So, although the technology behind Third G. may seem complicated , with all its terms like GPRS, EDGE, WCDMA and UMS, the ways in which Third G. will affect our lives are easy to imagine.
We just imagine having a combined camera, videocamera, computer, stereo and radio all included and we'll have our mobile of the future whenever we want anywhere there is a wireless network, perhaps to wear as a watch or a pendant just to be fashionable.

A very big kiss to all the Portuguese and English students involved in the Project.
We hope our work will be of some help to you.
Looking forward to meeting you in Rome,
