Prototype Mobile Phone
Year 12 students designed concept models of a new generation of mobile phone using the software Prodesktop, a 3D modelling package produced by the Parametric Technology Corporation.
The students initially produced designs on paper and then developed their ideas using the computer package.
Initially basic geometric shapes are produced such as rectangles, squares and cylinders. Once the desired shape of the phone is achieved edges are rounded and curved, buttons and other features added and finally colour is applied or the design can be put into a design album, which will give the model textures of materials.
The design can be viewed from different angles and can be rotated or spun so that all of the intricate features can be observed.
It is possible that the design of the phone is linked to Computer Aided Manufacture (CAM) and a three dimensional model produced
