1982: The Revenge
On November 30th of 1982, Cobreloa lost to Penarol the final of the Libertadores Cup. With the blood still burning with frustration, the team got together in one of the hotel rooms. In between the conversation, the coach entered the room and asked them: "How are the little monsters?". Mario Soto spoke for all and said: "Vicente, we want to be alone now. We already sweared that if we overcome this, we are champions. We promise you the title".

Four days later, the same guys that had cried in Santiago were beating easily the local team --Regional Atacama-- 3 to 1. This was the beginning of a unstopable march to the second title.

At that time, Univerdidad de Chile and Colo-Colo were the leaders, but the "Clockwork Orange" showed what it was capable of and two weeks before the tournament ended, Cobreloa already was 5 points ahead of the closest teams.

It was an exceptional campaign, if we consider that Cobreloa had to play definition games to go to the Libertadores Cup and played 6 games in 16 days. But for the "little monsters" there was nothing impossible.
