Championship Manager Diary - September 2000
Sunday 1st October 2000
I hope the frustration of being unluckily knocked out of Europe will play into our hands today. Im hoping the team will use todays league game to take out their frustration and beat Dundee to move up to fifth.

This is getting ridiculous. We were 3 - 1 up and we nearly threw the game again away. I'm running out of idea's how to strengthen the defence.

A mixed day as far as the media are concerned.
The media are on my back again. This time they are criticising me for playing Thomas Solberg. They think he isn't good enough to be in the side. Again I've told them to lay off my team. Who I play is up to me.
A website has been praising Steven McGarry. They reckon he is very talented and future Scotland International.
Friday 13th October 2000
I've got some deals in the pipeline. I was looking through the Scotland Under 21 squad when I saw former Manchester United Youngster (now at Norwich) Alex Notman. This guy is in the form of his life 11 goals in 10 games and he's only an attacking midfielder. I think I might offload Eion Jess and make a bid for him. I'll start off with �800,000 but they'll be reluctant to let him go for that much considering the form he's in. I think though a move back home to play in the SPL would be a more attractive proposition to him than mid table First Division Football. Also I'm on the lookout for a centre back. The three Scot's on my list are West Ham's Christian Daily (who is unhappy at West Ham due to a lack of first team football), Norwich veteran Malky Mackay, and Dundee youngster Lee Wilkie who is being tipped for his first cap soon. I'm scouting all three and will make a bid soon for one of them.
First I think I need to offload some players to fund these deals. First out will be Andy Dow and Eoin Jess, and also Paul Bernard may follow soon after.

I'm a bit disappointed, as this was a poor result. We've dropped down to seventh place and if we are going to qualify for Europe next year we need to win games like this.
Monday 16th October 2000
Norwich have rejected my offer for Alex Notman. Im going to make a new offer of �1,500,000. I've also placed Andy Dow and Eoin Jess on the transfer list.
Wednesday 18th October 2000
Another website have been hailing the performances of Steven McGarry. I've built up the praise as I think this guy is gonna do big things in his career.

I have accepted an offer of �600,000 from FC Kobenhaven for Eoin Jess.
Dropped down to fifth after losing to the bottom club. God that is frustrating.

The only good thing to come out of today is that I'm �600,000 better off. I've used the extra cash from the sale of Eoin Jess to make a �400,000 bid for Darius Adamczuk, who is surplus to requirements at Rangers.

Rangers have rejected my offer for Dariusz Adamczuk. I have made an improved offer of �600,000. I've also made a �2,000,000 offer for West Ham's Christian Dailly.
Evening
Rangers give me a quick response. They've accepted my offer but Adamczuk has rejected because he wants to stay and fight for his place at rangers and doesn�t want to leave for a rival club.

West Ham have rejected my offer for Daily so I've added an extra �1,000,000 to my offer.
Tuesday 31st October 2000
They've rejected my second offer. I've made a final offer of �3,500,000
