Game Settings

At the start of your first game you are presented with the Game Settings Menu. The initial presented options is a result of the game detecting the type of system you have and those settings are the default for your machine. Background Changes quite simply change the background picture (wallpaper) as the game progresses through a season. Switching this off can have a beneficial effect on the speed of the game, as this will reduce the amount of processing required

The Database option ranges from minimum to maximum.
? Minimum will only load players in your selected league(s) plus those with a world class reputation.
? Normal will load all the players in your selected league(s) plus players of that nationality irrespective of where they play. It will also load players at major clubs even if their particular league has not been selected.
? Maximum will load the most players.
If your machine does not quite match the minimum specification required to run the game selecting the minimum database might still enable you to run the programme, albeit slowly.

Choosing the lowest number of matches stored does save on the hard disc requirements of the game. The Auto-Save facility allows you to select how often you wish to save your current game if at all. Any setting, apart from never, will automatically save the game upon exit.

Assuming that you do elect to periodically save your game then Saving Compressed will use up less disc space but will take slightly longer to complete the save.

Flashing Text is quite simply decoration and when set on with a low specification machine can have a detrimental effect on the speed of the game.

If there are other games being played at the same time as your match you can elect to have them calculated in the background while your match is progressing. While this does save on overall game time the penalty is that a lot of processing is being carried out during your game which, on some machines, can effect the game clock. If, for whatever reason, you wish to change the game settings after this first presentation of the screen, you can do this from the left menu bar during a game.
