Carlisle Diary by Nick Tennant

15th July 2000
Well after watching division 3 for many a year I decided to take my knowledge onto the pitch. After looking at the division I decided to take control of lowly Carlisle who have a couple of bad seasons fighting relegation. Hopefully my knowledge on the division can help me have successful career with Carlisle.
Well after I had a board meeting with the chairmen he had decided he would like to see the club away from relegation and he aspects a very tough season. He also told me that the club are stable in the money category and I have 28,000 to spend but the club do have some potential with a stadium capacity of 16,000.
Now down to business. First I look at my squad and I have an amazing four players on loan a keeper, centre back and two midfielders. I have a good strike force, a weak midfield and an ordinary defence but really to get out of this division I need 11 battlers. With very few coaches I offer for Dennis Moore who should be my assistant. I also make a bid for youngster Brian Healy from Torquay. I have offered all my money for him but he will fill the gap in my midfield.

Torquay have accepted my offer for Healy lets hope he agrees terms.

21stJuly 2000
Dennis Moore signs and is my assistant. Hopefully we can make the club strive and climb up the leagues.

22ndJuly 2000
Healy signed before the friendly against Hednesford Town and will go straight in the team. I am looking to play 4-4-2 through out the season and I will use it against Hednesford.

Hednesford Town 1 v 3 Carlisle (Friendly)
My first game turned out to be a great boost of confidence. Both my strikers scored Stevens and Halliday and debutant Healy opened his account. The only down fall was I didnt keep a clean sheet. MOM Ian Stevens.

After I got back from Hednesford I will be playing a two-leg affair against Notts Forest in the league cup.

26thJuly 2000

Carlisle 0 v 0 Bristol Rovers (Friendly)
A pretty boring match really my final friendly and I have a good idea of who is going to be in the team and who isnt. My main left back Harrison is injured during the match and is out for 2 weeks. MOM Loanee Darren Carr.

27thJuly 2000
Brentford make and offer for my 3rd choice keeper Peter Keen who is on loan to Darlington I accept the 40,000 offer.
