Connections to Other Material
SocratesThere are a few interesting connections between the Republic and other works. One of these is Thucydides' Peloponnesian War. In it, Athens' soul is often mentioned. Well, in the Republic, Socrates is trying to build a more just city, and thus a more just soul. Another connection is with the Odyssey. Read the entire idea here, but in short they both involve somebody doing down in order to find their way back home. There are multiple other connections between the Republic and other historical works- search for them in you book!
