SocratesLeo Strauss once said that "The Platonic Dialogue is one big question mark." The Republic is no exception to this rule, and obviously some help was needed to fully understand some of the hidden messages in the text and in the end provide accurate information on this site. I would like to thank first of all Plato (though it might sound really lame) because he took the time to write these dialogues down- I'm sure he had no idea at the time how influential and powerful they would become. Second, thanks to Eric Voegelin for the brilliant philosophical ideas behind the Kateben page. Last but not least, I would like to thank Mr. Crawford for providing help with unlocking some of the hidden meanings behind Socrates' words; another thanks for providing us with very good advice as to how to understand the work.
