We continued driving Utah-like countryside of Cappadocian region. After a lunch stop where Jerry said he had the best coffee of the trip, we visited a pottery showroom and demonstration. Outside, Sidar was demonstrating backgammon.

Then we visited the underground city of Kaymakli one of the largest in Cappadocia with eight levels in 1.5 sq. miles. Although we could see only about 10% of the city, it was an interesting place to visit. Narrow pathways and low ceilings are definitely not for those who are claustrophobic. The entrance was blocked from the enemy with the thick circular rolling stone. How long did they have to live here? It must have been depressing!
Around 5:30 p.m. we arrived at our Hotel Karballa in rural Güzelyurt. This hotel used to be a Greek monastery in 19th Century. While men played backgammon or just relaxed with beer, women attended a scarf-tying session. After our group dinner at the dining hall, Sidar demonstrated how to make Turkish tea. The woman at the hotel read Sidars fortune from his tea dregs, saying that Sidar was getting married shortly, but could have a problem with another woman being in the picture...
