It's hard to find a more striking garden presence  than a stunning iris in full glory.  I've been growing them a short while and look forward to bloom season every June here in zone 4b. I got started when I rescued a neglected patch of my Grand Mother's iris that had managed to survive in mostly shade in pure clay conditions for over 30 years.  Click here to see a photo of the transplanted rhizomes and a the story behind my introduction to growing.
