You can hear this phrase and other more exotic ones at Bland because of our strong foreign language department. A pioneer in early language instruction, our interest dates back more than 30 years. Two key phrases define our underlying philosophy: the building of communicative skills and the fostering of cultural awareness, phrases which have taken on greater significance in today's expanding world. Since human values know no geographic boundaries, awareness and tolerance of linguistic and cultural differences become a key to understanding.
Since language learning is a process, each succeeding year builds on the patterns of the previous levels. While never neglecting the aural/oral skills, we add more complex concepts as we integrate literature and writing activities into our program. We make extensive use of media and technology to enhance our courses.
