Promotion, Retention, and Placement

A student is promoted from one grade to the next on the basis of academic achievment. A middle school (or junior high) student must have an overall average of 70 or above, as well as an average of 70 or above in at least three of the following subjets: language arts (including reading improvement if required) mathematics, social studies, and science. If a student's grade average in any subject or course is "borderline" or below 70 at the end of the first three weeks of any grading period, the student's parents will be notified.
