Extracurricular Activities
A student will be permitted to participate in extracurricular activities, subject to the
following restrictions:
1. During the initial grading period of the school year, a student must be enrolled in
school to be eligible for participation in extracurricurlar.
2. During subsequent grading period, a student who receives an average grade below a 70
in any corse subject, or a handicapped student who fails to meet the standards
in the individual education plan (IEP) may not participate in extracurricular
activies for at lease a period of three weeks. A student may practice or rehearse
while suspended. The student regains eligibility when the principal and teachers
determaine that he or she has: (1) earned a passing grade (70 or above) in all
academic classes (2) completed three weeks of suspension.
3. A student is permitted up to ten (10) activity-related absences during a full-year
course and five (5) absences in one semester order to participate in school-
related or school-sanctioned activities on or off campus. For the sake of
uniformity at Bland High School, this rule applies to all UIL sanctioned eventes, livestock shows, Beta cluband Spainish club activities. Club meeting and banquets are not affected by this rule.
Any absence resulting from a student's participation in a orgaoization not on the
approved list shall be considered unexcused.
