ISLINNE WEYR RULES

Anne McCaffrey's Rules

**This means, if you break it, you leave the group. This is non-negotiable, as breaking these rules could get the club shut down or offend the McCaffreys.**

1) No using ANY of Anne McCaffrey or Todd McCaffrey's characters. This means you may not be related to any of them, either descendant or as their ancestor. This also extends to not using any unique names from her books. Names like Peter and Paul are fine (though unusual on Pern), but names like Sorka and Moreta and F'lar are unique, and constitute being an Anne McCaffrey name. If you have questions about which names are on the forbidden list, ask the BoD. The exception is if you are doing a tribute poem or song and clearly state that the characters are created to and belong to one or both of the McCaffreys.

2) Anne McCaffrey has made the following places off limits in the fan-groups: Benden Weyr, Ruatha Hold, and the Fort Harper-Healer Hall. That means no role-playing in those areas or interacting with people in those areas. We've made it simple. You can't play there, because in our timeline they were all destroyed and no one lives there, including any holdless.

3) The only allowable dragon colors are Gold, Bronze, Brown, Blue, and Green. ALL other colors, including White, are off limits. Ruth was unique, so you are not permitted to create another like him. If you want to know what the shade range is that is available in the five acceptable colors, please check with the Moderators.

4) Pern is considered a Code Red planet in Anne McCaffrey's books, meaning NO ONE, not even space bums, will travel there. There is to be no contact outside of the Rukbat system, and none of the other planets in the Rukbat System are inhabited. This also means no shipwrecks of passers-by. Before you ask: No, in this timeline the Dragons will not travel in space, even to the Red Star or the Dawn Sisters. This also extends to Crossover characters. Please, no Elves, Klingons, Unicorns, or any other type of alien or mutant species, only Crossover characters which can logically and reasonably be found on Pern are permitted. For example, let's say you really want to use a super herp character. If you take away the special powers but keep the general personality and reasonable looks, then fine, you can have it. Any questions on what is acceptable, please contact the Moderators.

5) There is no magic (except slight of hand, which is considered thievery or a cute skill), no mental powers (except the bond between Human and Dragon, and the lesser bond with Fire Lizard or Watchwher), and no Religion (no exceptions) on Pern. They do not worship anything, and ghosts are non-existent in their beliefs. In our timeline, the Ghosts of Pern have been proven to be scientifically, not spiritually, based.

6) The following Human-Dragon bonding only is permitted:

OUR RULES IN BEDROCK STONE

**These rules are non-negotiable. If you break any of them, you will be severely reprimanded, or even removed from the group. Please do not do this, as we don't like removing people.**

1) Do not play anyone else's characters without PRIOR permission from the controller. This is a standard Role-play rule. If you need someone else's person to do something for a plot or story, contact them and ask them. That's it, no exceptions.

2) If you are going to be going into a sensitive or mature theme, warn us in the story header or fade to black. As a PG-13 group, this is common courtesy so that others may opt NOT to read that story line. This is a chart to show which should fade and which should contain a warning. If you do not see your subject theme on the list, contact the Moderators BEFORE sending it.

EVENTWHAT TO DO
Non-Pernese Swear WordsDo Not Use At All
Sex (more then cuddles and kisses)Subject Warning
Explicit SexDo not use; fade to black
Violence (more than just a mention)Subject Warning
Graphic ViolenceDo not use; fade to black

Angst (loads of trauma)Subject Warning
DeathSubject Warning

Threadfall (Scoring, Death)Subject Warning
Graphic Thread InjuriesDo not use; fade to black
Sexually or Violently Explicit ArtDo Not even send

3) Flaming is out. If you have a problem with someone, take it private. If you cannot solve this privately, ask a Moderator to mediate, but do NOT take the argument or problem into the public forum. This is not only annoying to those not involved, it causes a club-wide rift as people take sides, and it WILL NOT be tolerated. You will be warned ONCE if it happens, then asked to leave if you continue. And it certainly will not be tolerated in reviews of other members' work.

4) Re-Impression or Multi-Impression (Dragons): Nope. Not gonna happen. Don't even ask. It's insulting to the original dragon bonding.

5) Characters below the age of 11 (ten) Impressing Dragons: Nope. As the dragon will want sex in one to three years, this would throw the child into a sexual situation far too soon. We have a minimum age limit of twelve (12) for males and fourteen (14) for females to be candidates, but will allow them to Impress (with Under-Age Impression Form) as early as eleven (11) for males and thirteen (13) for females.

6) On your submission, in the Header Section, please write the following: "I am in Islinne Weyr". This is to verify that you've read all the rules. If we receive a submission without these words, it will be refused without being read.

OUR RULES IN SANDSTONE

**These rules are standard to our group.**

1) Female Brownriders: Anne McCaffrey prefers all Brownriders to be male, but the Fan Forum has relented and said we may use females if the BoD agrees. However, we have agreed that it should be hard to get a female brownrider and they should be rare. This is in homage to Anne McCaffrey's wishes. If we feel there are too many, we will shut down this option. A separate FBW Application must be filled out.

2) Speciality characters: You will need an excellent and pressing plot. Also, you will need to fill out a separate Form, containing a long term plan/ plot, for the type of character you wish to have. Here is the lists of character types as well as links to the special forms.

FORMDESCRIPTION
HADHears All Dragons
HAFHears All Fire Lizards
GETGenius, Eidetic (Photographic Memory), or Twins
HCPPHandicapped, Psychpath, or Prisoner
DLSDragonless
FBWFemale Brownrider
SRFSearchrider

3) Speciality situations: These will be done occasionally. Those wishing to utilize one must fill in a separate Form, containing a unique and eye-catching plot, for the situation you wish to use. Here is a list of situation types as well as the links to the special forms. Characters below the age of 14 Impressing Dragons: This is frowned upon for the same reason that under 11 for males and under 13 for females is forbidden.

FORMDESCRIPTION
IFSImpression From the Stands
UAIUnder-Aged (11 for males/ 13 for females) Impression
TSITiming It or Stand It
FLFGold or Bronze Fire Lizard Form

4) Characters below the age of 10 Impressing Firelizards: Why? Firelizards may be common, but they are a lot of work, like a puppy. Plus they have the added trouble of being emotionally bonded to the person. Thus, they could wreak havoc on a developing psyche. This will be considered, but you will need to have a good reason and character for it to be considered.

5) Anyone wanting to add residents, animals, etc. to a currently occupied Hold, Hall, or Weyr should go through the Moderator to make the necessary additions. If the additions are to a currently "unoccupied" Hold or Hall (all Weyrs have at least a "skeleton" crew), fill in the appropriate form and send it to the Moderators.

FORMDESCRIPTION
HoldForm for any Major, Minor, or Cot Hold
HallForm for any Major or Minor Crafthall
DolphForm for any Dolphin and/or Human partner of a Dophin
