Some Hints For The Newcomers

Created by SpyderVenom

Here is a guide to help all of you newbies out there!!!! (Bet it helps some of the other players as well *G*) First i suggest you read the rules.

Getting Started

Ok, so you want to play on Adventures for Ancient Wisdom (AAW) Eh? Good for you! I personally love the place, good people, good friends, great Imm's and Gods. First thing that happens is you create your character!!!! Creating is a big decision and takes a while to think about what you want, but I'm here to help you out! *Im gonna pump you up* Ok, First thing you see is State thy name: Its best to choose a medieval name, as roleplaying and medieval theme are encouraged in AAW. Choose your name, then it asks If they got that right. Then you get to choose a password, make it something you can remember, don't want to have to waste your playing time to email the imms for it :). Confirm it, and choose if you want color or not (if you don't know if your mud program can handle color just put y and if your screen looks funky after that simply type A there to turn it off). Then You start creating the cool stuff.

Creating

Going in line with the screen here, first option is..

RACE
There is Human, Elf, Drow, Dwarf, Hobbit, Giant, Orc and Gnome. The link explains them all so check that one out! Choose, read about the one you choose *again* and then your back at the big board.

SEX
Choose if you a boy or a girl.

ALIGNMENT
Choose if you a goodie, a badie or neutrally aligned.

PRIMARY
Here you choose what class you want to have all the spells and skill all the way up to level 70. There's Mage, Cleric, Assassin, Warrior, Psionicist, Paladin, Dark Knight, Monk, and Necromancer.

SECONDARY
Here you choose the class that you want all the spells up to level 30. (Note: No matter how you try, you cant get these spells and skills past 80%)

GOD
You may choose one of the gods to worship, or be an unbeliever. Please bear in mind that if you choose to be generally good aligned, it is unlikely that you would worship the goddess of evilness for example.

HOMETOWN
There are four cities on which you can choose as where to have your recall at. They are spread around the world, and because of racial hate and other such reasons if you choose to play gnome for example the wisest path may *not* be choosing your hometown to be an Orc City(!) The possibilities for hometown are

ANSI
Color, if your client can support it, AAW has great color to it, if not, its still fun, so don't worry :)

DONE
When you got all this don't, your done and are transported to the beginning room..

Your In

You've been sent to the entrance of AAW. here, i suggest getting all your options and stuff straight because your totaly safe from anything. Me, right then i type Autogold, to get the gold from the corpses. I Type Brief because I personally don't like being spammed up with room info you don't always need. Just type look if you want to see a room description. I also type Autoexit so i can see which way i can go when i move into a room, channel -hint because there no hint there im not giving you :). Config -titlech if your going to have a title that you don't want changed into something like, the sword pupil or something like that. Making up your own is much more creative and fun. Autosplit if your planning on having a group, don't want to hog the gold!!! then just mess around with the basic's, eq to see what your wearing and holding, score to see additional info, stat to see your stats, inv to see what your carrying. That's about it, I think :). Read all the rooms in the mud school for all the info you need that's not here, if im leaving anything out. Go north. The Ruler of AAW slurs a sad story about the world needing your help! when your done there, type "say ready" without the quote (") marks. You get some nice spells in which you want to level as fast as possible before they wear off, since they add stats that you can really really use.

FIRST, type North or N to go in that direction, then West or W. A trainer awaits your arrival there for you to train your stats up! type train wis until it says your wisdom is maxed, or you don't have enough practices, depending on race / class selected. Wis or Wisdom, it gives your more pracs in which to train with every time you gain a level. After that, max out Con or Constitution. This stat gives you more HP every time you level. after that the ball games yours, MY personal order after that is INT for mana, STR for muscles, and then DEX for speed.

Now, follow the rooms, read the signs until you reach the cage rooms, in the middle is a healer who adds a few spells to you randomly. From there go N, S, E, or W, and kill the Monsters, There all within your range and should be easily killed and they have the regluar newbie equipment at level 2, go down from the Adept of Frag and open east, go east then north and kill that dude to finish your temp eq, then s, unlock east, open east, go east and kill the beast for you +1 Wis +1 Con Diploma to wear while you level. I stay in mud school till level 6, then i explore the world. Ask players about places to go and directions, RECALL transports you from anywhere (Note: there are zones where you cannot recall from) to a certain spot in your home town. Its a safe room and no one can mess with you there. Dont forget to con your foes after your out of mud school, in mud school, you can kill em all, but in the real world, use con or you might get your butt kicked.

Your Rockin

There, if your eyes are strained from reading, take a break, your done, there is more info though! Maps to places to go, and newbie eq if you can talk some higher level players into helping you get it!!!!! There's usually a few people on who will take there time out to help. So, go play, and remember, its just a game, HAVE FUN!!!!!

Also, there's more, you want something to increase your int when you level up, so to gain more mana (If you have need for spells). And before you level, try wear something that gives you extra wis, for it means more practices.

And wallah, before you even notice, you are a level 5 fighting machine. I wont spoil anymore, so the rest you have to find out yourself or ask someone (some truly helpful players around there!) And stay in the Academy of Wisdom for the couple fo first levels, then explore! Happy hunting!
