MENDOTA, ILLINOIS -- JUNE 1, 2002:

The USLMRA hosted a regional on June 1, 2002 -- The STA-BIL Jones Small Engine Rumble in the Grass Regional. This is the 8th year that the USLMRA has held races at this venue. Greg Honchell (FX Class) and Chuck Miller (BP Class and FX Class) representated the Ohio Mower Racers at this race. Chuck brought home the checkered in the FX Class! Way to mow guys! GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA - JULY 6, 2002:

The USLMRA hosted the Great American Turf Classic Regional on July 6, 2002. Greg Honchell from Urbana, Ohio, made the trip to Greenville with the "Gates Belt Special" and brought home the checkered in the Factory Experimental Class! Chuck Miller of Marion, Ohio, took along "Boogie Woogie" and his 104 Machine to kick some grass in both the FX and BP Class divisions! The final results are:

KISKATOM, NEW YORK - July 20, 2002:

The USLMRA hosted the STA-BIL Hudson Valley Regional in Kiskatom (Catskill), New York. Mark Beckett from Ashtabula, Ohio, represented the Ohio Mower Races at this sanctioned points race. Here's the final results:

MARYSVILLE, OHIO - JULY 27, 2002:

The USLMRA hosted the Union County Mower Meltdown Regional on July 27, 2002. This is the home of the All Ohio Balloon Festival in Marysville, Ohio, but at the horse track versus on the grass as the usual location. Dan Shaw (Westerville), Mark Beckett (Ashtabula), Chuck Miller (Marion), Richard Dunlavy (Cable), and Greg Honchell (Urbana) are Ohio Mower Racers members who participated in this race. CELINA, OHIO - JULY 28, 2002:

The USLMRA hosted the Ohio Regional on July 28, 2002. Dan Shaw (Westerville), Mark Beckett (Ashtabula), Chuck Miller (Marion), Richard Dunlavy (Cable), and Greg Honchell (Urbana) attended the race from the Ohio Mower Racers. The final results are:

MARYSVILLE, OHIO - AUGUST 17, 2002:

The USLMRA hosted the 5th Annual Buckeye Regional at the All Ohio Balloon Festival in Marysville, Ohio. Chuck Miller always designs the track and he didn't let us down once again! Dan Shaw (Westerville), Mark Beckett (Ashtabula), Chuck Miller (Marion), Richard Dunlavy (Cable), Nate Hendricks (Vanlue), Greg Honchell (Urbana), and husband/wife team of Larry and Trish Potenza (Grove City) attended the race from the Ohio Mower Racers. Unfortunately, during practice laps, Trish Potenza snapped the crank on her engine so she was not able to participate in the AP Class races. Nate Hendricks drove mower "Nuff Said" owned by Steve Sergent (Marion). Nate did Steve and his mower proud by bringing home hardware in two classes! Nate received the checkered in both the AP and SP Classes! Way to mow Nate! The final results are:

MANSFIELD, OHIO - AUGUST 31 & SEPTEMBER 1, 2002 - STA-BIL KEEPS GAS FRESH NATIONALS & COORS LIGHT CHALLENGE OF CHAMPIONS:

It was great to have the Nationals in the Buckeye State!! Unfortunately, some of the Ohio Mower Racers did not qualify to participate at the Nationals due to the new regulations with the USLMRA. You need to participate at two non-points races in order to qualify. The OMR members still showed up to show their support and pride for the others who did get to participate! Two of the National Championship titles stayed in Buckeye Country -- Greg Honchell of Urbana, Ohio, won his first National Championship in the Factory Experimental Class. Chuck Miller of Marion, Ohio, won yet another BP National Championship. We can't even remember how many this makes now........Congratulations Greg & Chuck for some awesome driving!! The USLMRA National Point Standings were also announced on September 1, 2002. Where did the OMR Members finish, you ask? In the Stock Class, Dan Shaw (Westerville) finished in 17th place. In the AP Class, Dan Shaw (Westerville) finished in 19th place. In the SP Class, Richard Dunlavy (Cable) finished in 15th place. In the BP Class, Chuck Miller (Marion) finished in 2nd for the season, while Mark Beckett (Ashtabula) finished in 10th. In the FX Class, Greg Honchell (Urbana) finished with 2nd place, while Chuck Miller (Marion) finished in 11th and Richard Dunlavy (Cable) finished 14th. That's it for 2002!
