DECATUR, ALABAMA -- MAY 7, 2000:

The US Lawn Mower Racing Association hosted a regional race in Decatur, Alabama on May 4, 2000. Steve Sergent and Greg Honchell made the trip representing the OMR. Steve Sergent of Marion, Ohio, came home with First Place in the A Prepared Class at the River City Regional. Greg Honchell of Urbana, Ohio, finished with a respectible third place!! Way to go guys!!

MENDOTA, ILLINOIS -- JUNE 4TH, 2000:

Steve Sergent and Greg Honchell made the trip to Mendota, Illinois, on June 4th for the Jones Small Engine & Central Illinois Regional. Steve brought home another 1st place victory in the AP Class, beating out Kevin Kiper (2nd Place) from Marseilles, Illinois, and Kary Kolliker (3rd Place) from Indianapolis, Indiana. Greg finished with a respectable 4th place in the Factory Experimental Class. Beating the bunch was Kevin Penne from Lake Villa, Illinois.

LISLE, ILLINOIS -- JULY 1ST-2ND, 2000:

Four of the OMR members competed at the Eyes to the Sky Balloon Festival in Lisle, Illinois; they were: Steve Sergent, Chuck Miller, Greg Honchell, and Mark Beckett. At this race, the Riders Cup Challenge was held where the British Lawn Mower Racing Association came over for the festivities. Unfortunate for the us, the British won the Rider's Cup Challenge races.

At the STA-BIL/Blitz Gas Can Showdown Regional on July 1st, Steve Sergent brought home the checkered flag in the A Prepared Class. Finishing in the 2nd and 3rd positions were Evan Billingsley (Montana) and Mitch Kiper (Illinois), respectively. Mark Beckett finished with a respectable 4th place in the S Prepared Class. The top three finishers were David Zaremba (Alabama), Kenneth Kiper (Illinois), and Mike Bertrand (Wisconsin), respectively. In the Factory Experimental Class, Greg Honchell finished in 8th position, with Mike Miller (Wisconsin), Kurt Schwengle (Wisconsin), and Darryl Bratton (Indiana) finishing in the top three, respectively.

At the Prolong Super Lubricants No Equal Classic Regional also on July 1st, Mark Beckett finished in 7th place in the S Prepared Class. The top three were David Zaremba (Alabama), Reese Reeves (Texas), and Garrett Gray (Texas), respectively. In the Factory Experimental Class, Greg Honchell finished with a very respectable 5th place (out of 14!!). In the top three finishers were Kevin Penne (Illinois), Mike Miller (Wisconsin), and Brian Waldron (Michigan), respectively.

On July 2nd, the No Leak Automotive Sealer Challenge Regional was held. In the A Prepared Class, Mark Beckett finished with 4th position with Mark Boyce (Georgia), Kary Kolliker (Indiana), and Recil Hensley (Illinois) being the top three. In the S Prepared Class, Mark Beckett finished with an awesome 4th place (out of 17!!). The top three were Randy Hoolrah (Missouri), Reese Reeves (Texas), and Evan Billingsley (Montana). In the Factory Experimental Class, Greg Honchell finished with 6th place. Kevin Penne from Illinois brought home the checkered.

CELINA, OHIO REGIONAL - JULY 30, 2000:

OHIO MOWER RACERS WAPAKONETA RACE - AUGUST 6, 2000:
The OMR hosted this race in Wapakoneta, Ohio, as the opening for their rodeo. Horse power opening for more horse power!! This was supposed to be the same dirt oval in front of the grand stands as with 1999, but due to severe lightening and down pours, the race was almost called! Instead we made a track in the grass area and had a ball! Here's the final results:

MARYSVILLE, OHIO - AUGUST 19, 2000:

The USLMRA hosted a race at the All Ohio Balloon Festival on August 19, 2000. Chuck Miller designed the track (as usual) and did a great job of providing some great racing. This was taped for SpeedVision and Home and Garden TV. Quite a few of the OMR members participated. They were: Steve Sergent, Chuck Miller, Greg Honchell, Richard Dunlavy, Mark Beckett, Dan Shaw, and Larry & Trish Potenza. Since there were three regionals taped on this day, it made for a lot of parts wearing out, and drivers! We had a couple of notable events to mention. Chuck Miller was in first place in the Factory Experimental Class in the first race when his rubber separated from the rim on a rear tire. Chuck (with his excellent driving ability and blockability) managed to hold onto 2nd place! Also needing mentioned was that Dan Shaw took a nasty spill and had his mower land on his head and still was trying to assist others with tinkering for the next race! Dan deserved a trophy for his enthusiasm! The results were:

The USLMRA hosted the Nationals for the first time in Indiana for 2000. There was also the Prolong Regional that day. It must have been 200% humidity that day to add to the heat. This race was held on a small, dirt track and had many racers, so if you didn't get out first, you were going to be eating dust because passing was very tight.
