RULES OF ASSASSINATION

N.B.  Not to be confused with Rules of the Guild.

1.  An Assassin will not accept a contract on anyone who is unable to defend themselves, and collateral damage to bystanders, servants, e.t.c., is considered extremely bad form.

2.  Any adult who is in control of assets worth more than ten thousand dollars a year
is considered able to defend themselves, or at least to employ someone to do it for them.  It is their fault if they do not.  There is no helping some people.

3.  An Assassin will use only weapons that rely on his or her own strength, albeit in stored form.  Thus, any kind of bow is acceptable, as is, say, a lead weight lifted and carefully placed over a door.  Swords, knives, clubs, ropes and so on go without saying.

4.  An Assassin may also use an item that is merely moved from one place to another, as it might be a bucket of piranha fish, am electrical carpet or a chemical substance.

5.  An Assassin is forbidden on pain of expulsion and instant clienthood from utilising any weapon of what we may guardedly call a
firework nature.  An Assassin uses skill and discipline, not alchemical contrivances.  However, in certain circumstances compressed air has much to recommend to it.

6.  Finally, an Assassin will only use those means which a client, if they are suitably wary and diligent, may detect and avoid.  There is no honoour in shooting a man from a distance in the street.  The thoughtful and careful client must always have a chance.  A man who cannot be bothered to test his shaving soap for poison every morning has lost the will to live.
