Blue Ocean Cross-body bag This is a pretty good sized tote bag. The front features an appliqued ocean scene. (It's supposed to be swells out at sea but both my husband and I think it looks like the Blue Ridge Mountains.) The applique was heat-bonded and then tightly satin-sitiched with all the threads being pulled to the back and knotted. The black fabric is recycled, but the different blue fabrics are new. The back is a patchwork of 4 fabrics and a pocket. The gusset is made from a recycled man's dress shirt. The strap is new cotton checkered fabric and has been reinforced with interfacing. The inside of the bag is lined with my favorite blue stripped cotton/linen blend and features a pocket. It closes with a pretty pearl-like button. Fabrics include satin, fustin, cotton, poly, and linen. Glasses Case I sat down one day to learn to make a button hole and this is what I came up with. Not much of a button hole, is it? I hate how you can't see the colors in the picture. The bottom one is the closest to showing them. (click on the picture for a larger view.) This little cutie is made from 4 different colors of thin corduroy: dark blue, chocolate brown, off white, and stone. The inside is lined with unbleached muslin. Two snaps hold the flap closed with seashell buttons for decoration on the outside. It measures 6 3/4 inches wide and 3 1/4 inches tall. Not just for glasses, but it is a perfect size for them. Eventhing But the... Bag Everything but the thread is recycled in this baby. It's made from maroon cord (pants), sand-colored denim (more pants); the lining is white with red, blue, and green stripes (man's shirt), and the strap is crocheted black with black metallic threads (sweater). There is an outside pocket that has also been lined for durability. The stitching has been reinforced at key places like corners.
