An attempt by the Enterprise-E to pierce the barrier at the rim of the galaxy is interrupted by Q, who kidnaps Picard and takes him on a journey through time to Q's youth and his meeting with the malevolent being "O", while leaving the ship at the mercy of the Q-hating Calamarain.
