Site Update

THE  2ND  EDITION  IS  COMPLETE!!!  Here is a list of the changes and additions from 6-months of hard work.

• 19 new titles added.
• A new gallery which displays the cover art for all the books.
• An "Additions" page listing new titles, authors, subjects, time periods, etc.
• A new Table of Contents with a link to every page.

Timelines Section additions and revisions:

• A revised Title Timeline with 5 major eras delineated to more closely establish dates for the stories.
• A new Timeline Overview / Help page with a mini-timeline to explain the features.
• A new page on Conflicting Storylines.

Chronology / Synopsis additions and revisions:

• A new Chronlogy / Synopsis Overview page.
• New introduction pages to each series section.
• Chronology / Synopsis broken down to one time period per page, with additions to each page of:

 
• Pictures for the period from the TV episodes or movies.
• A link to the Book Gallery "wing" for the period.
• Graphics credits for each picture.
• Links to other Chronology pages and sections.
• A link to the Chronology Overview / Help page.

Index Section additions and revisions:

• Short story authors and individual short story titles added to the author and subject indexes.
• 30 new headings added to the Characters Index.
• 4 new headings added to the Situations Index.
• 2 new headings added to the Aliens / Political Groups Index.
• 3 new headings added to the Special Genres Index.
• Individual links to each picture in the Book Cover Gallery added to the Title Index.
• A new Title Index Overview / Help page with a mini-index to explain the features.

 
The 2nd Edition is only available in "frames". Also, to view the formatting correctly, it requires using version 4.5 or higher of Netscape or Internet Explorer. The 1st edition is still available in the noframes version, which will not be updated.

Site Update

The initial stage of my redesign project is now complete. As you have probably noticed already, my home page has a radical new look, as do the Awards, Graphics Acknowledgements, Star Trek Links and Webrings pages. I have also added an archive for my Announcements, and these five pages are collectively being called the Annex. I am still hard at work improving the main site pages and will continue to give progress reports.

Awards

I am pleased to announce that this site continues to receive more honors. In addition to the awards mentioned in my November 11, 1998 update (see below), my trophy case now contains the "USS Atlantis Commodore Award", the "Prometheus Admiral Award", the "Angel Swan Outstanding Star Trek Site Award" and the "Page One Award" for literary contribution to the web. This last award came as a complete surprise, and I wish to express my gratitude to the editors of Page One for their recognition of my efforts. From the outset, I have wanted my visitors to get as much enjoyment out of using my site as I have had putting it together, and an award like this is very encouraging. Site Update

I'm still working on the 2nd edition to the site, but it's taking longer than I first anticipated. I have slowly been gathering pictures from around the web and am now working on incorporating them into the pages, but I'm afraid it may be several months yet before I'm ready for the grand unveiling. Please be patient and check back often. I promise it will be worth it: My beta readers assure me the revisions are stunning.

Awards

I have the honor to announce this site has now won several awards. It was selected as Sector001.com's "Intertrek Site of the Month" for October 1998, and was given the "Visionary Award" for excellence in Science Fiction and Fantasy on the Web from Speculative Vision. Site Update

I am in the process of making major revisions to the site. The 2nd Edition will feature a totally revamped Chronology / Synopsis section including pictures for each time period and cosmic backgrounds for all the pages. The chronology tables are also being broken down to feature only one time period per page to facilitate faster loading of the new graphics. And, of course, all the new titles since September will be added. I will keep you informed of my progress.
