GURPS is the Generic Universal Roleplaying System, created by Steve Jackson. I started playing this game by accident actually. I asked for Vampire: the Masquerade for Christmas many years ago, and my parents got me the GURPS version. And thusly a semi-passion was born. Break the Rules implies my somewhat ... lax attitude to rules on this page. To whit; a goodly few areas have items which may make purists cringe. I think they make the game more fun. :)=
I don't have that much stuff uploaded for this page yet, but here are a few items which might entertain the GURPS-philes amongst you.
Stuff:
Back in the early/mid-90's SJG released a quartet of Worldbooks which let you use White Wolfs World Of Darkness games with the GURPS system. These covered the first three Storyteller Games; Vampire, Werewolf and Mage. These were all good books, but the World of Darkness has moved on since they were released. Anyone using these books might be interested in the update work I've done for my own campaigns, which includes new and updated clans, bloodlines and changing breeds (aka bet), and some rules revisions.
So far I've only made rules to convert one other game to the GURPS engine: The Whispering Vault, by ???. At the moment it doesn't serve as much more than a way to use Shadows as new monsters for a horror campaign, but that could be a fun way to start a WV game, with all the players still mortal.
I've designed and adapted a few races for my games. These are the packages for them:
Ragmen: (horror) Undead creatures who've slowly replaced most of their bodies with trash and rags.
Vampires: (horror) Based on a really weird dream I had once, this version of the legend is human by day, but becomes something quite different by night. This still needs a lot of work.
Dolls: (cyberpunk/sf) Genetically engineered consorts, Dolls are only owned by the richest of the rich in the dark future. Unless they run away...
Thritch Kalvarr: (horror) The Pain Mothers are from The Whispering Vault rpg, now available as PCs. If you're playing a very nasty game.
Mi-Go: (horror/sf) The Fungi from Yuggoth, based on the description in GURPS Cthulhupunk. Which could make an interesting race in a GURPS Space campaign.
Ananasi: (horror) From White Wolf's Werewolf the Apocalypse, I've converted the were-spiders. Very expensive.
Corax: (horror) Again from White Wolf; were-ravens.
Melinbonans: (fantasy) Michael Moorcocks classic overlords.
Lurkers: (horror) In the alleys and the corners of the cities dwell the lurkers, hungry creatures which feast on anyone stupid enough to get too close. The camouflage helps of course...
