WEIRD SNAPSHOTS, STRANGE TRUTHS, ODD REALITIES AND WACKY INFO ABOUT JAPAN COURTESY OF HASEGAWA ( ) TOMOKO
These are the criminals of Japan which are sought by the police, and people who see them might get a reward. Many tourists have mistaken them for moviestars' posters! © Hasegawa Tomoko |

In this crowd, how can the police find a 'wanted' criminal? This is the crowd at New Year, when we go to Shinto or Buddhist temples/shrines to pray for good luck. © Hasegawa Tomoko |

At the end of the year....there is Christmas. To us, in Buddhism and Shinto, everything white people mistake as decorations are meaningful elements. Christmas tree doesn't have a meaning to many Japanese, therefore we modify it. It may become a weird 'gohei'; 'decorated' by wishes that we write on paper. Most of us do not celebrate Christmas, being non-Christians. But we like new things (for a while!) Also it is good to have more celebrations and parties! © Hasegawa Tomoko |
