"That can't work."

Disclaimer

This article is sarcasm. Although this article seems describe almost exactly how some people refuse legitimate accommodation, it is actually designed to show what not to do - barriers should be removed, not fought for. It is also part of a larger article, How to Keep Your Barriers.

Phrase Description

It's okay to just blatantly dismiss a request without considering it, on the basis that some small and trivial part of the request would be impossible to do. Resist the urge to actually talk to the person about that part of the request, instead dismiss the whole thing as "totally unreasonable." Avoid any chance of negotiation! It doesn't matter if the part that wouldn't work is easy to work around, it's still okay to dismiss it!

Usage Example

Customer: I'd prefer to write my requests on notes rather then speak them.
Business: We can't do that. One of our 350 employees can't read.

Next Phrase
