On Tuesday a gala in honour of the 70th anniversary of Maris Liepa will take place at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow. Dancers taking part are from the Bolshoi, the Mariinsky, La Scala Ballet and the National Ballet of Canada.

On Friday Vladimir Malakhov performs in the season-opening gala of the Staatsballett Berlin at the Deutsche Staatsoper Unter den Linden. Guests dancers are Lucia Lacarra, Cyril Pierre, Gillian Murphy and Friedemann Vogel.

On Sunday at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes the "Irène Lidova" Lifetime Achievement Prize will be awarded to Rosella Hightower. The celebration of one of the divas of dance will take place in the very city where she has embodied ballet for over 40 years.

On Saturday the Finnish National Ballet presents two ballets created by Kylian with Mozart's music: "Petite Mort" replete with sexuality, and "Sechs Tänze", replete with humour and buoyancy.
These two ballets will be danced by La Scala Ballet one month later in Milan.

« Aurore », by Nils Tavernier, with Margaux Chatelier, François Berléand and Carole Bouquet, is on screen from Wednesday. It tells to story of a kingdom where dancing, banned for many years, is nevertheless practised by the young princess Aurore. To save the kingdom from bankruptcy, the King is obliged to find a wealthy prince for her and she has to choose between the crown and her love.

World-famous ballet dancers take part at the ``2006 Special Ballet Gala'' to be held at Seoul Arts Center. Kang Sue-jin, a principal dancer from Germany's Stuttgart Ballet will perform a pdd from Act 3 of ``The Lady of the Camellias'' on Wednesday and a pdd from Act 3 of ``Onegin'' the following day, partnered by Manuel Legris.
