Nikolaus Harnoncourt appears as guest conductor and the Wiener Staatsoper Ballet is joined by the Kirov Ballet.

In Milan on the 19th of December 2002 the Scala holds an international dance gala ten years after the death of Rudolf Nureyev.
On stage at the Teatro degli Arcimboldi artists from the Paris Opéra, the Royal Ballet, the Kirov, the Bolshoi and the Cuba Ballet will be performing his trademark roles.

It would be hard to imagine a more beautiful tombstone than the glorious work of art designed by Ezio Frigerio for Nureyev's grave, unveiled six years ago on the 6th of May 1996.
The tombstone was made in Paris and the mosaic in Ravenna.

To celebrate the 75th Birthday Year of Dame Beryl Grey DBE, a gala will be presented at the Sadler's Wells on Sunday.
Dame Beryl was the first Western ballerina to be invited to dance at the Bolshoi (1957-58), and to appear with the Peking Ballet and Shanghai Company with a Chinese partner (1964).

First performed by National Dance Company of Spain at the Teatro de Madrid in 1996, Duato's "Por vos muero" was inspired by popular Spanish music and dances from the golden age of the 15th and 16th centuries, and is set to some of the most beautiful verses of the Spanish poet Garcilaso de la Vega. After being broadcasted on Wednesday, it will be performed by the RB the following week.

Dame of the British Empire, she fired the imagination of Frederick Ashton and became a legend in her own lifetime.

A friendship that lasted 19 years until Nureyev's death has produced a series of more than 35 portraits of him by Wyeth.
James Wyeth is exhibiting them to overlap performances at the Kennedy Center by the Kirov ballet of St. Petersburg, during the season due to open tomorrow.

"Sleeping beauty" was first performed in St Petersburg 112 years ago on the 15th January, with the choreography of Marius Petipa, Carlotta Brianza as Aurora and Paul Gerdt as the Prince.
Next month in Rome first performance of a new version choreographed by Paul Chalmer, with Lisa Maree Cullum as Aurora and Roberto Bolle as the Prince.
