Barret is the leader of the AVALANCHE. It is through him that Shinra feels that they are being threatened by the ''terrorists''. He has a daughter, Marlene, that he hates to leave in the care of others. While we will never know why Barret really chose to fight, it is thought of that Shinra is responsible for the death of his wife.

Where is this weapon found?On the steps that lead up to the Sister Ray just before the team reaches Hojo.
Limit Breaks
Level 1:
- Big Shot -
Barret charges up a powerful energy ball from his gun and hits his opponents with it.
- Mindblow -
Same as Big Shot, but Mindblow takes away Magic Points away from the opponent. Although it is a Level 1 attack, it can come in very handy if used on the right enemies.
Level 2:
- Grenade Bomb -
Just what it says. Barret throws a grenade into the enemy group and deals massive damage to all of them.
- Hammerblow -
Barret runs up to his enemy and gives them a Mike Tyson (not the biting of the ear!!) that sends them hurling into space. This is similar to a Doom or Death spell so it's pratically obsolete to bosses.
Level 3:
- Satellite Beam -
Barret calls on beams from space to deal well over 3,000 points of damage to a group of enemies.
- Ungarmax -
Barret loads all the bullets he has into his gun-arm and street-sweeps the enemy group.
Level 4:
- Catastrophe -
(In Corel once Meteor has been summoned. Talk to the old lady in the house on the west side of town.)
Barret uses his gun-arm to propel himself into the sky. Then he deals a Ungarmax-like attack on the enemies using a ungodly-heated lazer beam. If used at the right time, this attack deals 9999 hit points every pop (which makes it third to Knights of the Round and Cloud's Omnislash). With this in mind, only Sephiroth, Jenova, and the WEAPONs are the only individual enemies that can survive this attack.
