Report 3, By Peter Myers, February 18, 2003 CAMPION ADVANCES IN RBTT CHESS CHAMPSCampion College claimed the first semifinal berth in the RBTT National High Schools Chess Championship, with a convincing 3-1 victory over pre-tournament favourites Ardenne High on Saturday. On Board 1, Ardenne’s Brandon Wilson exacted revenge on the previously undefeated Zhu Hui of Campion, who defeated him when the teams met in the preliminary round. On Boards 2, 3 and 4, Campion’s Andrew Robinson, Charles Ross and Hadrian Christie, proved too much for Duncan Brown, Andrew Bent and Russell Meghoo respectively of Ardenne High. If Campion goes all the way, they would be the first team in the 27 year history of the tournament to win with a female player on the top board. The other quarterfinal matches will see Wolmer’s Boys and Meadowbrook High traveling to play Cornwall College and Mannings High respectively on Thursday, while Wolmer’s Girls will journey to take on Clarendon College on Friday END
