2003 FREDERICK CAMERON OPEN,
DEC. 13-14 AT NORMAN MANLEY LAW SCHOOL, UWI

The Inaugural 2003 Fredrick Cameron Chess Open begins this Saturday at the Norman Manley Law School, on the Campus of the University of the West Indies.

This Tournament which is being Sponsored by the Norman Manley Law School and the Jamaica Chess Federation, is being held in honor of Mr. Frederick Cameron, a past President of the Jamaica Chess Federation.

The Six Round Open Swiss tournament, which replaces the yearly Xmas Open Chess Tournament, will accept registration of Players between 8am and 9am, on Sat. morning.

 

REGISTRATION - 8AM-9:00AM Sharp!

Registration takes place between 8:00 am and 9:00 am on
Saturday morning.

Half Point can be obtained for only the first Round, and must be claimed during the REGISTRATION.

PRIZES

OPEN SECTION

1st Place - Guaranteed $7,000 plus Trophy

2nd Place - $4,000 plus Silver medal

3rd Place - $2,500 plus bronze medal

 

CADET SECTION

U-14 and U-12 categories: The top three in each section to be awarded the following prizes-

First prize $1,000 plus (small) trophy;

Second prize - $500.00 plus silver medal;

Third prize -Bronze medal.

The top finishers (only), in cadets and amateurs will be awarded free entry to the next JCF event, in which they are eligible to participate.

 

FORMAT

Three Sections: a)Open b) U1800 Section c) Cadet Section Section

Time control:

RND 1-4 - 30 Moves in One(1) hr. and 15 mins to complete.

RND 5-6: - 30 Moves in One hr and 30 minutes to Complete

 

Open Six (6) round Swiss Tournament

1/2 Point Bye for round 1 only

DAY 1 - Saturday December 13, 2003

Registration; 8:00am - 9:00am

ROUND 1 - Saturday 9:30am to 12:00pm
ROUND 2 - Saturday 12:40pm to 3:20pm
ROUND 3 - Saturday 3:30pm to 6:10pm

DAY 2 - Saturday December 14, 2003

ROUND 4 - Sunday 9:00am -11:30pm
ROUND 5 - Sunday 12:10pm -3:10pm
ROUND 6 - Sunday 3:30pm - 6:30pm

Closing Ceremony: 6:45 PM
