Relationship between HTML files and Documents

HTML files contain hyperlinks which can connect one HTML file to another.
HTML files can also contain hyperlinks to PDF, Word or other documents which a user can download to his or her computer.
Just putting a document up on the website is not enough. You need to have a HTML file which contains a link to that document.
Thus for the QBW Newsletter, besides uploading the Newsletter, you also need to change the newsletr.html file so that it contains a hyperlink to that Newsletter and then upload the changed newsletr.html file.

When you place a hyperlink in a html file to a document, the link remembers the position of the document in relation to the position of the html file. Moving the html file or document to another position breaks the link.

In the QBW_Website folder the newsletr.html file is in the topmost layer while the Newsletter PDF document is in the newsletr folder.
If you insert a hyperlink in the newsletr.html file which connects to the Newsletter document in the newsletr folder, and then later move the Newsletter document to another folder, the link will be broken!
If you move the Newsletter to another folder you will need to change the newsletr.html hyperlink so that it connects the Newsletter to its new position.

HTML files can be changed by a HTML editor such as MS Front Page. However expensive HTML editors are not necessary as all HTML files are basically text files which can be changed by simple text editors such as Notepad. MS Front Page though does make it easier as you do not need a knowledge of HTML coding.
