A
Former Estuary
At the heart of Titchfiel
Haven is the River Meon. This starts its life as a chalk stream beneath
the chalk downs four miles West of Petersfield and provides perfect
conditions for the plantlife in its flanking water meadows.
The nature reserve
extends inland almost to Titchfield with a footpath following the
canals course to the village.
This footpath is shown
in white in the map.
The river now flows
into the sea through one way sluices into Hillhead harbour.
