Going lean is bad. An Air/Fuel Ratio gauge is required if you are
making any modifications to your forced induction. I use about the cheapest one there is,
the Cyberdyne. I picked this one because all the gauge really does is measure voltage, not
brain surgery. It has worked fine for a couple of years now.
This gauge does read as advertised, in my experience. However, all O2
sensors are not created equally. I've tried several and found that you do get what you pay
for in an O2 sensor. The primary differences I have seen are response time and accuracy.
The stock sensor is both quick to respond and accurate. I have found the NAPA 3-Wire
heated O2 sensor from the 80's Ford Escort to have an excellent response time, but it
reads low. Where the stock sensor reads full rich, .97, the NAPA sensor reads .878. I'm
not sure why this is, but suspect it is heat related. The reading are effected by heat.
The next O2 sensor I'm going to try is the Motec four wire sensor. (LAMBDA SENSOR, HEATED 4 WIRE MDY661 $90.28)
If it doesn't read properly I will go back to the factory sensor.
