it was another bloody exam week. but that didn't
stop me from watching any of the World Cup matches. =) or from
reading any books.
anyway, i just read Stephen King's The Green
Mile. yup, that's right, the one on television.
i am currently trying to write my first
book. i say trying cos i written a few starts and they sucked
to the max, so i don't know if i ever will finish it. the main
characters are erm... Arawn, Cybele, Linus and Kate. the name
'Kate' was the only one that didn't sound weird or uncommon
cos i am to lazy to change it all over again.
that's laziness for you.
i rather like Cybele. it reminded me of some
blonde girl with a slivery laugh, sorta like fairy-like.
also, i am trying to win 15 000 dollars in a
crossword puzzle contest. this time, i say trying, cos like,
duh!

so, i am planning to turn this into a book review
site, though when i say planning i actually mean like .. give
me several months. the layout is begining to bore me. and i
haven't seen any cool book review sites yet. except for some
of the really corny ones that go ' A Cool Site By Teens!"
ewWWW..
anyway, i ask for book recommendations from
you guys. bear in mind, i hate Raymond E.Feist and don't particularly
like Frank Herbert's Dune series. they bore me.
Raymond has this flaky characters that doesn't
make any impact on me, and his style of writing sucks. Dune,
however, got me rather lost. i guess it fits readers who like
to pay close attention to the words and the plot. the characters
have no sense of humor.
i want to be a writer. cool novelists make indecent
amounts of money. i am jealous. =P.
here's the review of ARTEMIS FOWL by Eoin
Colfer.
What attracted me to the book initially was
it's cover. it 's golden and shiny. let's face it, book covers
which are real shiny and nice attracts people. that's why i
bought it. when a friend of mine said, "Don't judge a book
by it's cover," that's irony for you.
anyway, the summary thing behind book sounded
interesting. it told of this criminal mastermind kid who kidnaps
a fairy. anyway, as i read the book, i was shocked to see how
the characters in the book can seem to NOT resemble real people
in real life.
Artemis is so UNREAL. yuck yuck. you know how
sometimes, the characters are so real, you can bond with them;
imagine yourself to be in their place? well, artemis was like
this smart-alec kid who makes lame jokes and is flithy rich.
and there are no servants in the house except his butler and
his butler's sister. incredible.
anyway, the plot of the story, which is about
Artemis kidnapping a fairy and outwitting them, could have came
out to something, if it wasn't for the characters and the lame
jokes in the book.

so Brazil won! whoo--hoo! Prosperous Thumper
is/was supporting Japan, Bambi supports Senegal, and I supported
France, but then, it was 3 matches, then they were out, so now
it's Brazil.
also, Korea got accused of having bribed the
referee. poor them.

yesterday, i saw the Korea-Italy match. it was
a pretty cool one, considering the fact that Korea was on the
brink of losing, before someone ( i 'm really bad at remebering
names) from the Korea team scored that goal nearing the dying
minutes of the game. i guess that came as a shock to Italy.
especially when one of their players was sent off.
though i support Korea, i feel so sorry for
Italy. i mean they could have won, they would have probably
won, except someone screwed up the defense, cos they were relaxed.
Football is such a cruel game.
anyway, i can't wait for Saturday's match between
Brazil and England. it's a match that would create legends.
i am not supporting anyone, yet. actually, it would have been
more meaningful if this match was for the finals. they are both
two really strong teams, and it's so wasted that they had to
meet this early in the match. one of them will lose, and will
earn no place in the World Cup glory. that's like, cruel.
i had a maths test today, and i forgot to bring
my calculator. yesterday it was my watch.
-sparky flower- has her Physics
test on Friday.

it's half time and England beat Denmark 3-nil!
Denmark has to muster a fantastic comeback if they don't want
to fly home so early in the World Cup. in the pouring rain?
an uphill task. it would be like soooo embrassing if they stay
at nil. i mean, after all that challenges, "England, we
can take you!"
-sparky flower- is supposed
to be studying Biology.

ok.. here are more books which i read. (and
bought)
Foward the Foundation - Isaac Asimov.
Artemis Fowl - Eoin Colfer
if i say anything about Isaac Asimov's Foundation
series, i will fall over my heels praising. but as much as i
love his Foundation stuff, i didn't really like FoF. why?
it certainly would give readers new to his stuff
a bad impression of him. it sounded so normal, so mundane.
in his other books, notably Second Foundation, there was that
sparkle, charisma, in which Isaac possess.
(spoiler ahead) everyone knew Dors was
a robot. the Prelude to the Foundation made that clear. where
was Mr. Isaac's convincing wit?
and Hari sounded so dead. flat character comes
to mind.
anyway, i bought Artemis Fowl cos it had been
topping bestseller lists . EWWW.. DISAPPOINTMENT.
i'll write bout it later, now i have an exam
coming up.

just read several books =)....
Reaper's Man - Terry Pratchett
Men At Arms - Terry Pratchett
Dreamcatcher - Stephen King
The Mysterious Affair At Styles - Agatha Christie
i borrowed them from the library. loved Men
At Arms! it wasn't to say that i didn't like Reaper's Men, but
i love the love story between Carrot and Angua.
my fav book from Terry was the Feet of Clay,
so far, cos i haven't read all of his stuff yet. beneath
all that slapstick humor and witticism, somehow, Terry manages
to include stuff like discrimination, religion and goverment
systems, and doesn't sound boring like hell doing it. =)
i had always like agatha' stuff... but i can't
really give reviews... i suck at it.
Dreamcatcher disappoints. i would have thought
that it would be better, matching up to the standards that 'The
Stand' and 'Insomnia' set. it was a little puzzling following
the story, and there were some scenes which were a little boring.
oh there, i said it. usually, i find Stephen
King's stories a good ending for all the other books i read
in a row. but... i don't know..... maybe cos he wrote in a different
style then his past works.

yello everyone... i have ran out of books to
read, cos my mum doesn't want to drive me to the library.
my television has no satellite reception cos
it is raining.
i can't play basketball cos it is raining.
i can't go running cos...well, duh.
my brother is hogging the playstation 2.
so, here i am writing an entry on my comp. although,
i could re-read my Wheel of Time books. hei, that sounds like
a good idea. i am probably gonna read ummm... Book 9? erm.
never mind, i'll just surf the internet for
interesting stuff and post them here. =)

hiya, is feeling pretty bored today.... so i
decided to take screenshots of my comp. here's one ..

and here's another...

the first pic is when there's nothing on my
desktop. see the cool pic of Tidus from Final Fantasy X? and
the second pic is when i am typing on my comp doing my website.
yes, i use Dreamweaver. yes, i love Dreamweaver.
i don't particularly like Adobe's Golive and
i never tried the other HTML editors except Netscape Composer
so... to me Dreamweaver is everything. go ahead and mail
me if you don't like it.
-sparky flower- shows the world
her stuff on her comp.
