Ok, so you got your rifle, and your equipment, youve just entered a game and your looking for a spot to set up...

First things first. Before you can snipe, you need a good spot. Now then, lets weigh up the options...

Spot 1. In your base or on the hills near your respawn.

Advantages...

Your probably near an armory

You have your team mates at hand if you get into trouble.

You can be protected (not on all maps) from other players with m4's and saws.

You may be on a hill already, eliminating the need to run for miles to get into a nice high snipe spot.

Disadvantages however...

Most enemy snipers will be re-spawn sniping...to say they will have a scope on your re-spawn. There obviously going to go for a sniper in the prone than an assaulter running and jumping like a mad man.

Your not always in a good position to snipe.

If people are firing grenades about your sodded.

If people start base raping you your VERY sodded, becuase you cant really attack back. Sniper rifle versus Saw anybody?

Theres never much cover round your base...If there is it will be in blantent enemy view.

You may be on low ground, and its harder to hit a sniper higher than you than it is lower than you because of the bullet arc.

Spot 2. On the hills surrounding the map.

Advantages.

Your normal sniping spot. Becuase theres so many differect hills other snipers are going to find it hard finding you if you dont fire much and dont give away your tracer position.

These hills are normaly higher than the enemys re-spawn so you can re-spawn snipe, which is were the best and easiest targets are going to be.

Theres ALWAYS tall grass to hide in. Also, most hills are 'rolling terrain' which means that has ditches etc in it all over the place. Good if you get shot at 'cos then you can crawl away and run crouched down through these places without getting seen easily.

You can normally see the whole map.

Disadvantages...

Other snipers will probably be near you, so you can be firing the barrett, the other person will hear it and come hunting...

Some people use hills as ways to attack re-spawn flanks, so if a guy with an m4 is running and sees you your pretty much dead.

Most other snipers will be scouting this hills with their scopes looking for people. That means if your not hidden well enough you'll be back at the re-spawn faster than you can get up and run. So basically youll get shot, and thats what we DONT want.

There might not be hills! On some maps the hills are so far away that the only rifle that will reach is the Barrett, and sometimes even the effective range on this wont be enough. You may find you have to aim higher/lower even when the scope is set on 1500m. This can be awkward and give you away as your firing to find the right range (you can easily use up a full clip without hitting anybody just trying to judge the scope elevation!)

Spot 3. Behind the enemys re-spawn.

Advantages...

You can see the enemy re-spawn VERY clear =) This means you can get a good few head shots in. Why not, why not...

There will probably be some nice hills to snipe from with lots of grass.

You probably wont get troubled by other snipers.

You probably wont get troubled by ANYBODY.

Disadvantages though...

If somebody does decide to come for you they wont give up until they find you.

Its an obvious place, and snipers always check behind if their re-spawn is getting seriously sniped.

If their re-spawn is on a hill your gonna have problems sniping from behind...how can you snipe over a hill?

If your too close you'll be heard.

Spot 4. On the hills surrounding their re-spawn.

Check out spots 2 and 3 for info on this place.
