PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS (PSA's)
Horseless 4-H Project The Salmon Model Horse 4-H Club (in conjunction with the Custer Co. Hot Wheels Model Horse 4-H Club) plans to take on the task this year of heavily promoting their unique "horseless" model club idea as a Statewide Project, writing letters and articles as well as researching other online model clubs with 4-H venues, with the hopes of sharing ideas & keeping in touch, perhaps even creating a future network of live and photo show opportunities amongst these groups. It is hoped that in time, this "statewide" project will expand to include other states as well!
Arkwild/Abaco Barb Youth Project
In addition, the ABYP continues signups of youths across America giving speeches or presentations, holding fundraisers, and so forth in order to spread awareness on behalf of the Abaco Barbs in the Bahamas. In the past, hundreds of dollars were raised in this fashion, a true testament to the power of Youth in this country!
Arkwild/Breyer®
continues donating a small portion from their sales of Acapella models to the Arkwild foundation, much to the sincere gratitude of the Salmon Model Horse 4-H Club who first hooked the two groups up together.
SMH4HC/Sonogram Fund Challenge
New model giveaway contest starting in the form of a Peter Stone ISH model, to be given to a youth who fundraises during 2007 and helps Arkwild purchase a badly needed Sonogram machine to better their herd preg check routine.
Idaho 4-H Horse of the Year Contest
Stone Horse/The Peter Stone Company® continues to give back to the community with their new annual Idaho 4-H Horse of the Year program. Here's an opportunity for 4-Hers throughout Idaho to nominate their horse for "Idaho Horse of the Year" by writing a 1000 word essay that begins, "My Horse has made my Life, and the life of others, better because..." Winners will then have their horse immortalized by receiving a portrait model of their best friend by Stone Horse. For more information, check with your County Extension Educator or visit the Idaho 4-H State website. Rules and official entry forms are also available in pdf form here. Deadline to enter is May 1st of every year.
SMH4HC Next Generation Photo Show
An educational, promotional model horse photo show open to kids and teens 19 years and under, with small prizes to be awarded. For classlist and rules, along with instructions how to enter, click here.
President's Volunteer Service Awards
In 2006 the National 4-H program became a part of the Presidents Volunteer Service and our club is now listed as a certifying organization. For this project, members are encouraged to keep track of their volunteer hours and any youth who volunteers for 50 or more hours a year are eligible for an award from the President. Adults can qualify after 100 hours a year. For more information on this project, visit their website.

Arkwild/Cash 4 Critters
The Salmon club's international service project continues throughout 2007 with the continued collection of used printer ink cartridges to the Cash for Critters® program, which in years past has made cash contributions to Arkwild on behalf of the Abaco Barb horses. To help pump up the volume, the girls put out collection bins all over town for such items in bulk. (Please be advised that the group no longer accepts the collection of old Cell phones).
The club happily continues with their collection of pop tops for the Ronald McDonald House in Boise, ID all year long. For more information about a Ronald McDonald Pop Top Program in your area, visit their website.

Club leader Susan Dudasik showing off Ginger's special Parade gear just before the start of one of their locals.
The pair had worked hard just to get to this point, and Susan couldn't have been prouder.
...and we think these two couldn't have looked more snazzier than this!
Mule Power!
Congrats Ladies!
