Because I've had other...uh...outlets, I haven't been using the blog here to post too much in the personal life realm. That's fine. I don't have much of a personal life to blog on anyway. But yesterday I had one of those I think that's a Whitee moment moments.
While I wasn't flapjacking, by any means, my back-and-forth teasing with an attractive, young co-worker was labeled by her as "brother and sister" like. Oooooooooh. She may as well have called me buddy.
And yes, actual Whitee news!!! I have written a new song. Putting some finishing touches on it (like giving it a title) and I've actually picked up my guitar for a total of maybe 10 minutes. I'm hoping to have a demo ready in a week or so. And while I threaten this all the time, there are changes afoot for whitee.com. I can't talk about it yet, but when they're ready to come down, I'll post about it.
And lastly, while I've never been a big Bill Maher fan, I think I've gotten to grown to like him. Part of it may be that he has better writers now, the other part may be because as most of the other voices out there are so ridiculously pathetic, in comparison, he's not so bad. Now that the writers' strike is over this came out and I have to admit, that it's pretty good. (can't find transcript)
Speaking of the writers' strike...I'm having trouble making a decision about this. Yeah, the strike's over, everyone's back to work. But Stewart and Colbert are scabs. And I have a problem with going back to watch their stuff - even though the writing is great and they're all talented. But if you're going to support the workers, you support the workers. They had enough money to hold out. Well, the way I watch each of their shows doesn't put money in their pockets so I guess I'll end up going back, but for now my disgust still outweighs my desire to watch their shows.
I'll say it again. John Conyers is a waste. This dude, could be doing some serious stuff as head of the House Judicial Committee, but instead he holds "hearings" where no one comes, they ignore his supeanas and he ignores his most important duty. He refuses to hold impeachment hearings against Bush & Cheney.
So yesterday, Crooks & Liars has a posting that Conyers is starting to consider it, even though Nancy Pelosi has taken it "off the table". (Please support Cindy Sheehan for Congress)
I tried to e-mail him (again). I would have called, but for the time difference in Hawaii. The guy got crushed. His phones, e-mail & fax all were jammed with people contacting him and telling him to pull the trigger. Here's the write up of it. But the most important line to me was:
If you do get through, be prepared to hear that impeachment hearings are not happening, but hearings into impeachable offenses are. Even though these non-impeachment hearings will not make it onto television, and Conyers is not even announcing them ahead of time, and even though witnesses will refuse to show up, Conyers’ staffers will try to tell you that hearings of the sort they’ve done for the past 13 months are all that’s needed.
WTF??? Someone needs to run against this MFer as well. He sells people / causes out. I'm tired of people kissing this guy's ass. Hey John, get the fuck out of the way!
Arrrrrgh! All this time I had no clue that I screwed up a coding thing and a link on the left column wasn't working. And as usual it was stupid little thing ("). So now it works. In 2001, Stephen Shalom wrote an article in Z Magazine that gave a sketch of why people in the Middle East hate us...and why they should. And this is by no means comprehensive. Man, I thought this was up the whole time. I'm bummed because this is probably the most important foreign policy article I've ever seen.
Stop for a second...read this and then REALLY ask yourself...If you lived in the Middle East, would American blue jeans and Justin Timberlake make you forget this shit? I hope not.
What a bunch of glue-sniffers. People in California, somehow get Ralph Nader's name on the Green Party Primary ballot and the guy wins. I'm so tired of these Nader brown nosers....
Fine. Tell you what. I will vote for Nader IF he registers Green (he never has) AND signs on to the entire Green Party Platform.
That is the only way I will vote for him. If Nader ends up being the Green's candidate and doesn't meet those conditions, I will go for another 3rd party candidate or just vote in local elections.
Running Nader again is a mistake. We know the party will not win this election, the reason to run a presidential candidate is to help the party grow so it can win more local and state elections. But running Ralph will not do that, because he doesn't work for the party, he works for his own agenda...an agenda I pretty much whole-heartedly agree with, but so do most Greens. But right or wrong, he has been branded with a stigma (actually wrong) that he put Bush in office. [And if you still think that, your thinking is a deep as a soap dish]
So the best thing for "the agenda" AND the party is to run someone else with Ralph helping. But Ralph doesn't help.
I know there's some crazy shit on YouTube, Google Video, et al. But the fact that there's video of baseball pitchers Pedro Martinez & Juan Maricial at a cockfight...I just think we may have reached the peak of our creativity as a species. It may just be time to pack it in. Just a thought I'm having at 6:30 in the morning.
Whoa there, Sparky. Put down the Obama Kool-Aid and back that Cult of Personality up a bit.
People are creaming their collective jeans over this guy all of a sudden.
Folks, I have some rather shocking news for you...
he doesn't write his own speeches.
Shhhhhhhh! Don't tell anyone though. It's apparently a secret. Dude can give a speech. Stupendous. People, let's not lower the bar this far just because we've had a bunch of evil retards in power for so long. We can do better than pretty words. He has handlers, just like the rest. Vote for the guy if you want, but all you men & women, stop offering to have his children, OK?
Jeez.
If you vote for Cynthia you get your woman and your African-American - all rolled into one. What a bargain!
Now. Go to Cindy for Congress and get involved. Give money. Do what you legally have to do to get rid of Nancy Pelosi. This will make as much if not more of a difference than a new president. That's not hyperbole.
