I'm in the middle of reading The Lucifer Effect by Phillip Zimbardo. In it, he explains how leaders get the masses riled up for war by using propaganda, dehumanizing our soon-to-be enemy so that when we go kill their innocent civilians we won't put up a fuss. Sound familiar? Well, it should. It's what we have done leading up to every nasty thing we've ever done (in the open anyway). And it's going on right now where Iran is concerned. The War Criminal and friends are lying their asses off about Iran so they can bomb the crap out of them.

I would love to see Iran say, OK...we'll get rid of all our nuclear stuff. You win. It would leave Cheney with his pants around his ankles with no war to spank over.

Oh, here's one of those lies right now...supposedly, Iran is supporting Iraqi insurgents. Not true. This is from Juan Cole:

A treasure trove of guerrilla documents, according to the NYT, shows that 41% of the foreign jihadis in Iraq come from Saudi Arabia, which is also a major source of funding for them. Another big group comes from Libya, with Yemenis the third largest cohort. There were none from Lebanon, despite constant US accusations of Hizbullah involvement. Of the some 25,000 alleged insurgents in US custody in Iraq, only 390 are foreigners. 4/5s of the Iraqis and nearly all the foreigners are Sunni Arabs. (The US appears to have never captured a Shiite Iranian fighter in Iraq.) The statistics raise the question of why US military officials are always focusing on Iran and Hizbullah so much, when they clearly are not very much of the problem, while never, ever, mentioning the Saudi issue. The Guardian has more.

About a year ago I had lunch with a fellow activist. Of course we weren't talking much about the weather or making doilies. She asked me what I thought about the upcoming Presidential race. I responded that I really didn't have an opinion until the third parties started making their decisions. That's when she told me that she was going all the way for Senator Clintonbagger. I was a little taken aback. The organization she worked for was a feminist organization, but I couldn't believe that any progressive would blindly support Clinton just because she's a woman. As I've said this before, you're not voting for your favorite American Idol. This is supposed to be the most qualified: man, woman, trannie, gecko, whatever.

Nope. She was voting for Clintonbagger, because it's time for a woman in the White House. I changed the subject.

So, I stumbled onto this online news organization this morning, and they had a great video asking the Senator a very important question. I still need to poke around The Real News, but so far I like what I'm seeing. So check out this video, but give yourself time. It's 7 minutes long, but there's important stuff in it - not just about Clinton. Watch it, then think about what you will do if/when The War Criminal invades Iran.

This is pathetic. So The War Criminal thinks a one day summit of 50+ countries will jump start Middle East peace talks. It's just going to be US reps lecturing other countries. THAT will go over well. And this will sure bring 'em to the table:

Oh...and on another note. If the stuff coming out in Scott McClellan’s book doesn't get Democrats to get off their asses (and Republicans) and start impeachment procedings then they should ALL be tried for treason.

I've been a bit pre-occupied this week. I'll get to some blogging this weekend.

I may have blogged on this last year, but like most "holidays", it comes round once a year so...

Veterans Day, along with Memorial Day makes me feel kinda oogy. I usually don't go anywhere near anything connected with them. Even the sales at Crap-mart.

My issue is, these days recognize soldiers. And most have fought in these wars due to patriotism and they've been fooled. Yes, I don't want to think of a more tactful word for it. The powerful people fool the working class into killing and dying for what they percieve to be injustices or for their own follies.

This goes for ANY war throughout time.

So if these days were to be days of activism - to prevent people from dying and killing - then I'd be at the head of the parade.

People say that these people fought to protect my freedom. That really isn't true. Pick a war...yes, even the "Great War" or the Revolutionary War. There were ways to achieve the things we wanted without bloodshed. And when someone uses patriotism as their argument, you really aren't going to win that one. You just need to move on.

Do we need a military? Unfortunately, yes, but a lot of that is because of our own behavior. If the United States was run by a bunch of facist, industrialists (in spite of the rhetoric about freedom) then we wouldn't NEED a huge military. And I'm not just talking about since The War Criminals have been in power. That goes for your buddies Bill, Jimmy, Jack and the lot.

So to sum up: I choose people over country.

Today I'm not going to be bitching about Democrats for a change. No. Today I'm going to be bitching about you. That's right, you.

The new "hot" story is about toys made in China. You have no right to say an f-ing word. No tisk, tisk. Nothing. Why?

Because YOU have insisted on going to Crap-mart and buying cheap crap. YOU have insisted that price is more important than anything else. YOU have taken the easy way out and bought stuff to occupy your kids' minds even though what they really need is your time and attention.

And YOU have jumped on anyone who has offered the opinion that maybe capitalism isn't the best way to go. You can't bitch because this is what capitalism is about. Profit and no regulation. That is the free market...to make the most amount of profit for stockholders in the shortest amount of time. Therefore, factories will abuse women and children to make crap to sell to you by the boatload at stupid prices. And advertising will use scientific techniques in brainwashing us to crave this stuff. And stuff that really does nothing to the value of your life.

This is what you get. This is what you deserve. Your KIDS don't deserve it, but you do. It's a lifestyle choice. How you make your money and how you spend it is just as important as how you vote and how involved you get in what's happening.

Stop for a minute and think. If your children see you making decisions on how you make your money and what you do with it how do you think that will affect them? I mean seriously affect them on a long-term basis? Yeah, yeah, yeah, you'll get the "but all my friends have..." A teaching moment! An opportunity to sit down and talk with your kids. I'm a teacher, but I can't raise your kids.

Ho, ho, ho. Christmas is acommin. What are you going to do? Are you going to buy the usual crap? Video games, sexist dolls, lead-painted crap? Hey, the choice is yours. You have a choice, despite what "capitalism" tells you.

Tell you what. Start with Co-op America. Go to their Green Pages and do some holiday shopping that may actually help people. [This is not a commercial. I use links from CA to buy most of my gifts now. Or I try to shop local.]

OK, let's go through this scumbag by scumbag...

Feinstein: Says that waterboarding is illegal. She sites how it's illegal. Then says that it's comforting to know that if Congress passes a law outlawing waterboarding that Mukasey said he'd be obligated to enforce it. IT'S ALREADY ILLEGAL!!! She admitted it herself! They don't NEED to pass a law.

Schumer: He says that we need someone to lead the Justice Department. To do what? If this guy's going to be a tool of The War Criminal, who gives a crap? It's just bending over for him again.

Both: Claim that if they don't vote him in The War Criminal has threatened to not send another nominee. Yet again, they are afraid to stand up to this fucking fascist. Just like the people in Italy and Germany who would not stand up.

If you are in the position to - and you don't stand up against torture you are just as guilty. They had the power and would not. They are cowards and their constituents should see what needs to be done to recall them.

I defy anyone to watch / read this and still tell me that Bush and Cheney should not be impeached. Period.

Schumer & Feinstein - you are traitors.

So when I found out that the warmongering corporatists known as Diane Feinstein and Chuck Schumer had announced that they are going to stay firmly up The War Criminal's ass, by voting for this new dude for Attorney General, I got pissed. Or more pissed.

See, while we're not official constituents of the other Congresswarmongers and Senators, they do have an effect on us due to their committee assignments. So yes, I can't vote for Frick & Frack, but what they do affects me. And of course, because I don't have piles of cash for them they won't do as I say and because I don't live in their districts they won't pretend to listen to me.

But nevertheless, I decided to e-mail these two bastards just to tell them that I think they suck - in a polite way, of course. Schumer blew me off and I get this response from Feinstein:

I've heard the arguments - young people aren't protesting the war like they did for Vietnam because there was the draft. Good point. Hard to argue with that. As altruistic as we all claim to be, when it comes to self-preservation, we fat-assed Americans will bitch and moan.

It sure would be cool if our youngsters would get off their asses more now, though there are people who are doing stuff.

But this goes for us older older folks as well. Many of us aren't doing or saying shit. Then something like this goes down.

Now, I feel for these folks, I really do. But it is ironically funny that when they're faced with having to go to Iraq, they freak out. But when they had their safe State Department jobs, they wouldn't speak out against Da Man. And the SD guy using slavery as an argument...whoa nellie!

I know it's funny, only because of the hypocrisy. And it's sad...because of the hypocrisy. But seriously, what the fuck?

This is really starting to make me think more about Jeff Gannon. Even though I'd rather not. What Republican was he fucking to get in the White House all those times? I really don't care about the gay sex, just the hypocrisy of it and the fact that a tool like Gannon could get access to the White House because he let someone blow him.

[Come on, you know that whomever he was screwing was the bottom. The Republicans are so repressed, they're not going to go for being a top. No way, no how]

Is there ONE Republican lawmaker who isn't a hypocritical sex fiend - straight, gay or bi? The ones who aren't gay spout about family values and have straight affairs and the gay ones dress up and go to sex shops...or airport bathrooms...or park restrooms. This is just fucking creepy, not because of the gayness but because of how unbelievably pervasive this seems to be.

They're making me look normal. Not easy.
