1/2 cup minced onion |
1/2 cup chopped green or red pepper |
1 cup grated cheddar |
1 tsp. mexican oregano |
1 tbs.vegetable oil |
Pinch cayenne pepper |
1/2 cup light cream cheese, softened |
1/4 cup salsa |
1/8 tsp. taco seasoning |
3/4 cup light sour cream |
In a bowl, combine minced onion, sweet pepper, cayenne pepper, and vegetable oil.
Sauté on medium high until the vegetables begin getting soft. Set aside.
In another bowl combine cream cheese, salsa, sour cream, taco seasoning. Mix well, then add the vegetable mixture and mix again.
This can be served hot or cold.
To serve cold, simply place mixture in a serving dish. Eat with tortilla chips, or with Tortilla bread.
To serve hot, place the finished dip in a saucepan and heat slowly on medium low, just until the dip is hot, this shouldn't take any longer then 5 minutes at this temperature. This should be done carefully, you don't want it runny. Remove from the heat, place in the serving dish or platter.
Serves 4
* Suggestion- A tortilla salad bowl makes an attractive serving dish for this recipe. You can
buy them in your supermarket, although I have only seen them available in the
United States. If you have found them in Canada please let me know and I will
pass on the information.
