Lois Lane (played by Erica Durance ) was born in 1984 and is the daughter of General Sam Lane. She has a younger sister, Lucy, who is too wild for her own good. Their mother passed away when Lois was 6.

Lois came into the mix when she found out that her cousin, Chloe Sullivan, was killed in a mysterious explosion before she was supposed testify against Lionel Luthor in the murder of his parents. This is what brought Lois to Smallville, Kansas. Chloe was going to testify against Lionel Luthor in the murder of his parents. On her trek to Smallville a strange lightning bolt struck a corn field and she lost control of her car and veered off into the very corn field where the lightning hit only to find a very naked Clark Kent. She took him to the hospital.

The following episode Lois and Clark begin investigating Chloe's death only to find that she is alive.

While she stayed in Smallville she lived at the Kent Farm in Clark's room while he took the couch. After Lana Lang moved to Metropolis University Lois took over the apartment above the Talon. She is now Senator Martha Kent's Chief of Staff.

Lois is , strong, stubborn, bull-headed, however, caring, willing to help others, and sensitive (although she won't admit it). Clark describes her to Lana as "bossy, stuck-up and rude" the very things he finds attactive about her.
