Chapter 8~ Half Trusting

After the sudden out burst Hitomi sat on the steps of the school, she really did not know who to turn to and where to go. All that went through her mind at the moment was that no one understood her, it pained her so much! She slowly got up and gathered up her things, 'forget practice....' she thought to herself. She did not head for home, instead she went to the tracks and sat at the bench. No one was there for practice was over already, she sat there savoring the memory of the first time when she met the young brown eyed black haired king. She sat there for a long time, long after dark.

"Hello, yes, Yukari? Do you know where Hitomi is?" Mrs. Kanzaki's voice was full of concern in the phone. "I really don't know...well...we had an arguement and I don't know where she is...I really do hope I did not upset her Mrs. Kanzaki..." Yukari replied to the worried-sick mother, "Thanks dear...I guess I'll just wait then" After Yukari hung up the phone she sat down to try to concentrate her mind to do her homework, but it wouldn't work, her mind was one her melancholy friend. 'Where could she be? Gosh Hitomi why to you have to be such a pain in the ass?' Her memory was now fixed on what Hitomi had said earlier, '" remember? Van the dragon....the beam of light...."' these did click in her mind but she couldn't remember anything. Yukari thought herself silly again and just pushed these thoughts from her mind. 'Still, I'm angry at her and I will teach her a lesson so she wouldn't act so bitchy next time, so I won't talk to her!'

Hitomi was walking down the dark streets of Tokyo, she was finally heading for home after clearing her mind a little and coming back to senses. 'Well..life must go on' she said this to herself over and over again to build up energy in her broken heart. Hitomi had took the long way back home to you know just walk and enjoy the cool breeze in the spring air and cool herself down. Suddenly around the block she saw Huzuko with his gang of guys standing in front of a Seven Eleven shop. She caught her breath, 'Oh my gosh! What am I going to do? He will surely try to make a move on me! What a jerk! Argh!....' Well as usual Hitomi's prediction was right.

"Hey check it out, that cute chick is here, well well do you want to invite her to our little well," the guy shruggs "little party, I guess, well don't ya wanna Huzuko?" "Hey stop teasing okay Peter, she is different from other girls..more..well more...you know what? I really want to find out what is bothering her! Its just like she has a problem with everything. She must have gone through alot...I really wonder what is it...ummm." Huzuko said while still looking over at Hitomi who was staring back at them in a frightened sort of way. "Hey you aren't going to actually..well...talk to her are ya?" said another guy, "Yeah, its like she has a problem with every guy!" pitched in another, "I guess the roumers ARE real, something big and bad must have happened to her! I remember she used to do tarot card readings she was real popular for that, also Amano told me that she had this pendent that she used for dowsing....she sounds like a syco person with sycic power to me!" said Peter. "Guys, just shut up okay? Check this out." Huzuko started to walk towards Hitomi.......

Hitomi was all tensed up now, 'What am I going to do? Van....I'm scared...' Huzuko was walking towards her, no predicting on what is he going to do next, 'ah! He's getting closer and closer every second!' Hitomi was actually getting a little afraid. "Hey Kanzaki, wassup? Why are you out here so late? A beautiful girl like you shouldn't walk around these Tokyo streets at night." "Well as I may recall...hmmmmm..its really none of your business so just back off alright?" Hitomi lost her fear now and was getting angry, she herself didn't even know what was actually causing the anger in her rise. She started to walk quickly away she finally got out of sight from the Seven Eleven, she broke into a run...she felt quite good running....it felt like she was racing away from her problems. She halted...she had ran for five mintues...'Where am I?' she thought to herself, her fear was starting to over take her anger....

'Gosh the girl is tough!' Huzuko thought to himself as he ran after her....his goal for now was to know what was bothering her....he ran and ran....'gosh! this girl sure is a racer! She is running so fast!' Huzuko halted Hitomi was standing not two yards away from him now, she seemed lost. "Kanzaki are you alright? Do you want me to walk you home? I know where you live." Now he started to feel a little dumb.

All Hitomi wished to do now was to have something to pound on and to scream as loud as she wanted to relieve all the pain that was stored in her, but she dared not to, when Huzuko offered his help all she could do was greatfully accept or else she'll be out in the streets and only god knows what may happen to her. "Fine" was all she said when Huzuko offered his help. Both walked in silent for about five mintues, Huzuko couldn't help it anymore he wanted to know what had happened to her so badly, and who was this ALLEN guy. "Kanzaki, may I please ask a question?" Hitomi was laughing to herself on how polite or nervous this guy is, "fine, what is it?" Hitomi still had the hard tone in her voice but actually she has already calmed down and was not angry or frightened anymore she just wanted to act tough in front of guys. "What actually happened to you on the three day disappearence? I really really really want to know the truth and I don't think the rumor is ture, did this Allen guy do something to you?"

Hitomi stopped at her tracks, seeing Hitomi haved stopped Huzuko stopped too, he stood there in front of her waiting for an answer. "Will you really believe me if I tell you?" The sudden change in attitude in Hitomi surprised Huzuko, "Well that depends on how crazy it is, but I think I'll believe you, how crazy can it be right?" "Its very crazy, believe me." "Well, still I would like to have a chance to know the truth." "Then promise me one thing, don't spread this around with your big mouth alright?" "No prob, you have my word."

Hitomi started to tell Huzuko about the day when she asked Amano for a kiss (Huzuko flinched on the bench they were sitting on when he heard that), about the mysterious boy and about the beam of light that took her to the planet Ghea. She told her about Fanalia, she described the forest and the beautiful Guymelef Escaflowne. She told him about Merel and how bratty and loving she is, about the beautiful princess Millerna and the handsome knight of Austuria, the cute blue eyed Prince Chid, Folken, the enemy Dilandau Albatou and all the characters, at last she told him about Van. "Van....he has beautiful brown eyes and black hair, he is the King of Fanalia the only one who can pilot Escaflowne.." Hitomi trailed off there. "You like him right?" Huzuko asked with hints of jealousy in his voice, "Yes, I love him....when I left Ghea he is the bastard who has taken away part of my heart....well I did that to him too, at least we are even....." Hitomi's eyes were full of love and warmth while looking at the sky full of stars.

Huzuko was no happy, no happy at all but he still wanted to know more about her...well...so called...adventure. So Hitomi went on saying their adventures together and at last she was sent home by the energist and how Fanalia is now rapidly progressing and will one day become the most powerful country, the 'most powerful country' part was a wish she herself made, it did not yet happen though. "I left my pendent with him....it was the only way to Ghea, but I guess its better not to see each other right away, I promised myself that I have to finish my studies first." Hitomi ended her story with these words. "Oh Oh, I see I see....So is this a three day dream or was it real?" Huzuko asked, "Its all true...gosh! I knew I shoudn't have told you! Yukari don't even understand, how could you?" Hitomi said sadly and angrily. "Wait Hitomi..." Hitomi had started to walk to the next block where her house was it was already 9 o'clock. Huzuko caught up with her and stopped her.

"Kanzaki, please, give me a chance, fine, well....." He started to feel stupid, 'How can I believe this wild story? Its so unbelieveable! But it sounds so real! Gosh, she should really write a book! Argh...gosh! Man she makes things hard!"

Yukari was truning around the block to go to the Kanzaki household to see Mrs.Kanzaki to help her find Hitomi, even though she was angry at her best friend...no just friends now...she was really worried. 'No knowing what she will do with her unpredictable moods and emotions these days.' Yukari thought to herself. Then Yukari heard it, "Kanzaki, please, give me a chance, fine, well....." it was Huzuko's voice! Yuakri gasped and stood peaking around the corner of the block. "I knew you wouldn't understand!" Yukari saw Hitomi who buried her face in her hands, "I should have never told you or even trusted you! You jerk!" Hitomi said to him angrily. "No Kanzaki, give me a chance to say something!" Huzuko shruggs and says calmly to the angry Hitomi. "I believe, I do, I truly believe you with my heart." Hitomi was extremely touched with the sincerity in his voice. "You do? You really do?" Hitomi started to sob, finally someone who understood her...well at least sort of.

"Kanzaki I believe you with my heart." those words echoed in Yukari's mind and a twing of jealous started to grow in her...'believe what?' Yukari thought....well...they weren't best friends any more so Hitomi wouldn't tell her. Yukari gasped out loud when she saw Huzuko walk over to Hitomi and give her a comforting hug. 'Wow! I really don't know what she's got! That boy is really falling for her!'

Huzuko smelled exactly like Allen! After the comforting hug which Hitomi accepted politely Huzuko walked Hitomi to her front door. "Huzuko thanks for understanding...tomrrow I'll bring those sketches and show you how they look like okay?" Huzuko was turning to go, "Huzuko...thanks so much....."   Huzuko smiled. For once Hitomi felt her old self again, having relieved a big burden, but will telling a boy who she didn't really know be trouble? Will Huzuko keep his word and be quiet about this?
