Chapter 4~ Problems Emerge

Van was eating dinner when he suddenly heard, 'Van...save me...Van..Van....'. He immediately concentrated his mind on Hitomi, for five mintues he didn't move a bit or have any emontion shown on his face. Then after five mintues, he started to smile and heave a sigh. He was just thinking how good it felt to hold her close to him after all this time.

"Van-sama, are you sure you are alright?" Merel who was evidently about to talk to Van about some problems and saw his weird expressions so she kept quiet until he smiled. "Oh, yes, I'm fine. Nothing really..." "Whatever." "Van, well you ought to be careful about your actions. If you are careless you can get yourself in trouble." "Am I not always not careless? What is the problem?" "Well the problem is.." Van flinched in his seat when he started to hear Merel using that important tone of her's reserved for scolding Van and Van only.

"When I went to your study today it was a mess. You really ought not to just throw all those letters on the floor! That's not the worse, you trample on them! Yesterday I saw Lady Ashera crying in the Fanalian forest while I was taking a walk. I asked her what happened and she said, 'My father wrote a marrige proposal for me to the king. When he went to his court duties the next day he saw the letter on the floor with a big shoe mark on it...' and she broke down crying. Van you've been hurting a lot of people feelings." Merel scolded. "Who is her father?" Van asked quite surprised at the story Merel just told him. "Her father is Sir Wildor"  "Oh, I remember now, but Merel you can't blame me! These letters just drive me nuts and I can't stand it! Can we please change the subject?"

Merel saw that Van was getting upset so she changed the subject. Van was actually really hurting a lot of young noble ladies in the Fanalian court. Many have asked for Lady Ashera's hand but she always declined them, now when she wanted to marry the king, she was sure she'll get him, for she was beautiful, smart, capable of understanding, and a very well-bred-high-class-society woman. When her father told her that what he saw of her marrige proposal she was so upset. She has never been declined before and the feeling of it wans't nice at all. (you will still hear more about her in later stories)

Van went back to his room, 'Oh, Hitomi' 'Van..thank you....Van I miss you so much..' 'Me too Hitomi...As I said before I got there in time right?' 'Yeah you did....' *she was giggling*. 'What happened Hitomi? Why were you falling?' 'That's the problem I must talk to you about' 'What problem?' 'I saw a vision, it told me that something is going to happen to you and Ghea. But this time it is a weird vision. It showed me of all the possibilities of what may happen if you did this or that, if Allen did that or that, if King Aston did things a certain way, and if a girl which I don't recgonize did things certain ways.' 'What are you talking about? There is no problems..at least for now.' 'Van I saw the vision...did you know that a fat king...well he evidently looked like a king because of the way he was treated like one....anyway with a girl about ten were coming to Fanalia? The vision showed me these possibilites: If you get everything ready before they come you won't be in that big a trouble. If you don't get things like a feast or something ready for that royal family you are in great trouble.' 'What trouble and what king and princess? I got no idea of what you are talking about but this seems to be real important.' 'Van, I remember I saw the royal family pulled into Fanalia with a grand carrige..and come to think of it there were big letters painted on the carrige saying Noovi.'

Van was now getting real tense and sweating. "Goodness, why didn't no one tell me that they were coming?" Van thought out loud. 'Did she send you a marrige proposal?' 'Yes, the princess's name is Princess Sarala. 10 years old can you imagine? How am I suppose to get interested...a..a..when I've got you?'  Hitomi blushed at the mention of that 'Stop being sweet Van, this is important. Remember USE the pendent, it will guide you. Also you never know maybe they informed their arrival in the letter you just didn't see it. So you've just got to fetch it out. Also get ready for their arrival..and becarful on what you say..this King can cause alot of trouble you becarful now okay?' 'Hitomi but can't you come to help me?' 'Van I'm sorry my place is here for now, you've got Escaflowne and the pendent I'll always be with you okay. Well I've got to start on my homework, also I will start thinking about the problems tonight and try to think of which way might be better okay? Ask Allen to come too because he is part of the plan okay? bye.' The connection was cutted off and Van layed on his royal and grand bed.

"Well I believe Hitomi's visions so the first thing to do is fetch out the letter from the pile in my study. Man! That will take forever!" Van said to himself. Van looked about his room everything was neat and clean, it was actually a large room, it had belonged to his parents, but now it was his, he had not yet searched the room  for any special secret passage ways or secret panels yet. He knew there was one in the room somewhere. He remembered when he was five, he saw his mother in the room...he went out to get her a glass of water and she was gone when he came back. But not anywhere but she went somewhere while she was still in the room. But with all these court duties Van never did have time of his own. Now Van laid on his grand bed. 'If only Hitomi can share this with me....' he fell asleep.

Back on Earth............

Hitomi now finished her homework and looked at the clock 9:00.  Hitomi took her shower, gosh just how she hated to wash long hair even though she liked it. After Hitomi finished she went to sleep, she now pondered on the possibilities on the problem. She started to piece things together but some of them just wouldn't work. What is best for Van to do now is be nice and give a big feast and a nice sleeping guest room to the royal guests. Oh just how she wished she couldn be there for him..but she can't her place was here...her family..her friends.....but Van.... Hitomi swept these problems out of her mind for now to get a good nights sleep.
