The important materialistic  sciences are attached to Vedas.  This is  since ,  in olden days, "Vid" means knowledge and any compilation of knowledge used to form part of Vedas.

Thus,  Smritis do not form part of Vedas since it is not ' knowledge
' but are either codes of conduct or commentaries on already existing
branches of knowledge.

The important Upa vedas are :

1) Ayurvedam( upa veda to rgveda) authored by Brahma, Twin Gods
    called' Aswinis' and Dhanwantari.

2) Dhanurveda( to Yajur veda): Viswa mitra authored this on
being taught by Brahma and Lord Siva

3) Gandharva (to sama veda) : furthering the traditions of
sangita(music) started in sama veda,th n by Sage Bharata,
who was well versed in music and dance.

4) Artha veda is the upa veda of Loukika vidyas such as
Neeti,(ethics of life), aswa(horses),shilpa(sculptures),
paka(cooking) etc. This is attached to Atharva Veda.
