| The important materialistic sciences are attached to Vedas. This is since , in olden days, "Vid" means knowledge and any compilation of knowledge used to form part of Vedas. Thus, Smritis do not form part of Vedas since it is not ' knowledge ' but are either codes of conduct or commentaries on already existing branches of knowledge.
