| There are many PRATHI SAKHAs . Issues like how to chant Vedas in tune(swara), taking care of the "udatta"(ascending swara) and anudatta(descendiing)., how to divide the word, how to go about understanding the literal meanings of the vedas are discussed in prathisakhas. Many are lost to us. Now the available praathisakhas are 5 in number.They are : Rk, sukha yaju , sama, atharva and taittreya prathisakhas Brihath devata granth is attached to every veda and it explains the nature and description of hymns and the presiding deities of the hymns. next |
