| Welcome to these pages on Hinduism. As the first attempt, I am giving an introduction to the Vedas and their literature. After this, I am going to add more pages on other texts like Upanishads, Bhagavadgita , Brahma sutras, Puranas, Ramayana, Mahabharata and even some important texts like Ashta vakra samhita( the forerunner of advaita theory ) and viveka chudamani of Sri Adi sankara. Also, these pages will be revised to add more contents... so please keep returning... Please write to me to enrich this page... or if there are any corrections to be made.. Many people know about Ramayana, Mahabharat, Gita and Vedas. But often people do not know about the other texts of philosophy that have a place of pride in Sanathana Dharma(that is how Hinduism is actually called- the ancient path of life) My intention is to give a brief introduction to these texts in these pages . As such I am not giving the content or the meaning of the texts here. This is meant to be only an introduction to these texts. I read an article in one of the local magazines. It has given info which I did not know before but all the same, it opened my eyes to the fact that not many people-even those who claim authority and write articles- have the knowledge of the existence of these texts, leave alone the expertise on the subject and the content. I recognised the need for a proper introduction to these texts hence the messages in the club and consequently, these page. I am basing my information on several books and websites. I am sorry that I did not preserve the credits because I did not read or take notes with the intention of reproducing here. In fact, I would not have done it but for the reason I have told above. So I hope you will enjoy these pages .. I once more request you to write to me in this process of mutual learning... next |
