What is Autism? Many of you have heard the term but you don't fully comprehend exactly what Autism really is. The best 'No Frills' description for Autism is found here, in my opinion. Autism in general is as different per case as fingerprints differ from person to person. In Logans case, he doesn't communicate with words (although he screams an awful lot!). One way he communicates nonverbally is by taking me to something, or bringing something to me and physically putting it into my hand. His favorite thing in the world seems to be Coca-Cola. He will go into the 'fridge' and grabs a can of soda and then a cup, and runs to me or my mom and gives the soda so that we can open it for him. He has figured out how to unlock doors (that is why we call him an escape artist), unscrew caps (which means anything in any container instantly needs to be dumped; e.g. shampoo, liquid soap, laundry detergant, soy sauce, salt, pepper, Kool-Aid, or just about anything he can get his hands on), and climb on everything. He can jump fences (literally jumps fences), and he will climb up on the kitchen counter, then the top of the fridge. He climbs on the back of the couch, and then will go behind either the computer desk or the entertainment center. If you want to find out more about Logan, click here.
