Personal Player Bio
Basics On the Astronest forums I was known as Silverbolt and on the game servers themselves my colony name was Gondor.  I would love to say I was a feared player, but that's just not true.  I'm not as devestating offensively or as ruthless as some of the top players, but my defensive style and surgical strikes do place me among the vererans of the game.  I played for almost three years on the English and Korean servers and I would hope I earned the respect of my fellow gamers.

My brother introduced me to the game in the summer of 2000 and I was hooked.  In the beginning I could be found roaming the newbie boards soaking in every piece of information I could find, and at that time the best sources were Hamsterwhel and Tcol, two very fine players and incredible individuals.  After a few servers the webmasters announced the creation of a new server, the Federation Server.  This server was team oriented with federations of 10 players competing with the the incentive of added support.  At this point there was a mad rush to create federations of quality players before the deadline.  I myself wanted to play and considered joining both Sintex and the UED, but in the end I was offered a position in the CCITT which was the brainchild of Tcol.

In the CCITT I learned from some of the best in Tcol, BeastieJ, Plektonis and Dragon's Den.  This advanced my abilities many-fold and once joining these individuals I began to make top 20 appearances regularly in all of the servers until I finally reached the rank 1 spot on a Conquest server.  But I digress.  For a group of loosely oragnized players the CCITT did extremely well and while not a top five federtation, kept a respectable ranking thoughout the server.

As the servers progressed Plektonis introduced me to his peaceful expansion tactic.  I took the basics of what he outlined and developed a very specific and ordered strategy that involved a purely defensive setup and restoration of one's own planets to gain rank instead of conquest of other's planets.  I found I could gain higher rank by being peaceful that through conquest.  Therefore almost every server I used this peaceful technique to gain higher and higher ranks until I finally broke the top ten in the second Conquest server.  Afterwards I visited the top ten in every sever I played in.

However I will admit the peaceful tactic can get a bit boring at times, therefore I played a second indepent colony named Arcane Empire.  Very few knew I did this and since the two colonies had zero interaction with each other, it was legal.  There was a time that I had two colonies in the top ten, which is not considered fair, so I volontarily dropped one of the colonies so as not to annoy my fellow gamers if they discovered the truth.

Once I gained an above average understanding of the mechanics of the game I started to visit the Newbie and Strategy forums under the role of the teacher and answered every question of which I was able.  I became one of a few veterans that would do so and therefore got quite a few thank you notes from newbies in the process, which is always a rewarding experience
Astronest is a Korean based internet browser game, it is  classified as a text based game that requires no plugins.  It is a space game where the player picks one of four distinct races and then tries to create an empire of planets and ships.  Starting with a homworld and a few buildings one was directed to first research a plethora of topics ranging from weapons and armor to spy tactics and economy enhancements.

Once done with research a player must create a massive fleet of warships and conquer those weaker than oneself, and move up the rankings by stealing their planets and resources.  Along the way each player could design their own ships and then test them in battle against whomever they desired.

The game server ended when the top ten colonies decided they needed to start over and completed Project Granduer, a fancy way of saying ending scenario.  At this point the top 10-30 colonies battled the rest of the server with all protection rules revoked in a massive free-for-all.  Normally the top colonies were successful and the server ended, but if not then the server continued and those colonies that attempted to end it all were pentalized by losing a majority of their planets and ships, if not being completely defeated.
