Automatic Weather Stations

Alongside the conventional instruments and human observations, automatic weather stations are widely deployed. Especially handy they are in remote places where manned observation stations are not practical. One such site is Pedro Bank of Jamaica in the middle of the Caribbean Sea.

The network of automatic weather stations in the Caribbean is currently being upgraded with the help of the SIDS-Caribbean Project. Take a look at the locations of the stations provided. You can search the web sites of the national meteorological and hydrological services for more information on national AWS networks.
