Remote sensing

Remote sensing is collection of information about an object or event without being in physical contact with the object or event. Remote sensing is restricted to methods that record the electromagnetic radiation reflected or radiated from an object.

In-situ measurement is done by a device that is in physical contact with the object or phenomenon being studied.

Human eye

Visibility, cloud cover and cloud type are still observed mainly by human eye all over the world. There are equipment that have been developed to observe these parameters, but so far they have not surpassed the human eye in usability.
