| THE FILM The Accused is without question a film in which there is one of the most awe-inspiring perfomances from any actress on screen to date. Of course you don't need me to tell you this, Jodie Foster did, after all, win her first of two Oscars for this performance. The actual film itself albeit dated is a must see. Not for its entertainment value but for its actors (Kelly McGillis also does a great job), meanigfulness, which brings out the true and harsh reality of rape. Of course not everyone needs or wants to see the true harsh reality of rape, but there you go! For those who have not seen the film I do not want to spoil it for you, however the most I can do is implore you to see this amzing social awerness docu-drama. FILMING To help Jodie to tap into that true anger, desperation and contempt the director decided to film the rape seen first. You would have though that This would obviuosly have been a hard scene for Jodie to act, but it was in fact the other actors who were hit the hardest. Jodie was said to have comforted the actors playing the rapists after having filmed that scene. |

Jodie Foster was not first choice to play the role of Sarah Tobias, she even had to sneek into the audition. It wasn't untill Kelly McGillis threatened to pull out if they failed to cast Jodie that she got the role. The casting director thought that she was too tough, too urban and 'un-rapeable', is that a compliment? |

| OK, OK so this isn't the kind of film you'd watch for entertainment, nevertheless it's an important film . It was the first time Jodie Foster was ever really accepted as an actress, rather than the dangerous label 'child-actor'. She unlike most child actors managed to make that transition succsesfully and went on to become the first ever actress to win two oscars before the age of 30. It is her Oscar for The Accused however that was the biggest a turning point in her career. |
